Hi
I am stuck with finding Frederick John Ryder's father.
I think he married an Edith Maud (maiden name unknown). She was a widow in the 1911 Census.
I believe Frederick's father died between 1904 and 1911.
All avenues I've tried have led me to a blank wall.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards
Roger

There is a baptism :
Frederick John ( July 30th ) bap 10 Aug 1904 , son of Thomas Richard Ryder , painter, and Edith Maud of 41 Cannon Street at Saint Paul, Devonport
-
GRO index shows mother's maiden name is Monk
-
A brother :
William Frederick Monk Ryder bap 23 Jul 1902 St Pauls Devonport , Thomas Richard Ryder , painter Royal Navy , and Edith Maud
-
Thomas Richard Ryder and Edith Monk 4 1896 Stoke Damerel 5b 665
-
Other children
EMMA LAVINIA Q1 1899
THOMAS RICHARD ANTHONY Q1 1900
WILLIAM FREDERICK MONK Q3 1902
-
1901 census is a bit odd ages wise
Thomas Ryder 47 - painter HM Dockyard
Edith Ryder 46
Emma L Ryder 10
Thomas R Ryder 7

Wow you both have done the hard work for me.
Many thanks again.

That makes 4 children but the 1911 Census states 5 and they were all alive at the time of the Census.
I had a note that there might have been a Dorothy, probably wrong though.

I hadn't looked after the death of THomas
RYDER, VIOLET MAUD
mmn MONK
Q4 1910 DEVONPORT Volume 05B Page 290
Not sure where she is in 1911
-
Violet dies in Q3 1911, so should be somewhere
-
So Thomas Richard dies in Q1 1908 and Violet Maud is born in Q4 1910. Naughty?
I have found her remarried to a William A.Dearlove in Q2 1913.
-
In 1911 William was a married man - wife died 1912 - so may well not be Violet's father
There were a number of half siblings
Edna b 1914
Alfred b 1918
Reginald b 1921
I may have solved Dorothy - that was the name of William Frederick Monk Ryder's wife
-
That's excellent Mabel, thank you.
Would you know of a baptism for this Thomas Richard Ryder?
Perhaps his father's name would be on that who I haven't either.
I have found a Thomas Ryder (aged 8) in the 1871 Census with father Thomas and mother Emma with place of birth of Devonport which would certainly fit in with subsequent Ryders.
Thanks again
Roger
