Here's some good news re free digital downloads from The National Archives UK while they are closed to visitors.
Since our Kew site has been closed to visitors we are providing free access to our digital records available on our website for as long as we remain closed to visitors. Registered users* can now order and download up to 10 items at a time, up to a maximum of 50 items over a rolling 30-day period. The limits are there to help ensure the availability of our digital services for everyone – you can read more about the service, including details of what’s available to download, on our website.
You need to register through their Discovery section but it's free. There are some documents such as pre1858 wills which are very useful if you are looking for 19th century UK info.
