Title: McNeilly/Cairns any information
Post by: tioman on Saturday 02 May 20 13:22 BST (UK)
Hope someone can point me in right direction. I know that at least 3 of my Father’s Uncles/Aunts emigrated to Canada. I have information on the ships that two of them travelled on and photos of my Dad with each set of them in 1940/41 in Canada when he was on his way to and back from Medicine Hat for RAF training. I have two addresses for them in Ontario circa 1927/29. I have their full details of birth/marriage etc and also one Child (although definitely know there were more as they are in photos).
I’d like to find out more about their lives in Canada, am I likely to be able to find information available online?
Where is best place to look?
I can post their details if necessary.
Thanks you for any assistance 😀
Regards
Tioman

If you can give us a few details to help the search we can have a look around.
Sometimes with the aid of voters lists, newspapers for obituaries etc ., we might be able to unravel something for you.
There is no bmd index for the time frame you require, probably more available if they end up in British Columbia.

Oh wow - struck lucky there  ;D

Will carry on and see what we can find.  Run Kitty is the obituary expert and quite often finds many obituaries in Toronto and I'm sure she will be along in due course to help.

I wonder if this is Thomas and Ellen McNeilly - this might mean waiting for the library to re-open in Hamilton to find obituaries for this couple.

Excellent results RK.  Janet Niepage was born 1908 - Canada Voters List 1963/68 showed them 77 Thirty-Second Street  York Ontario Norman was a baker - might he have had his own business.

Niepage Bakery, 77 Thirty-Second (Long B) ...

1949 J and Norman Niepage  (baker) - Josephine and John Ferries all lived at 32 Street.

There was a death of a George Alexander Smith (1936) who Janet Bannatyne Cairns married in 1932. However, that record said he was single.   ???

I found a memorial notice in the Star... that Janet Niepage placed in memory of her husband Norman.  She says he died Feb 14 1976.  I looked for an obit around that date and I can't find it.
