Post by: BW252 on Sunday 03 May 20 15:50 BST (UK)
Hi all

have hit a brick wall with the above John Scott.

Born Feb 1849, Crail, Fife.
Parents Thomas Scott, Catherine Gay
Wife Jane Ann Taylor, born Oct 1849 also Crail.  Parents James Taylor and Christian Gay.
Married 15 Jan 1874, Crail, Fife.    Place of residence on MC and 1871 census is 54 Oxford St, Glasgow.  Shown as a shopkeeper, druggist  No trace after that

Jane Ann is in Shoregate, Crail with her mother in 1901 (widow) and dies 13 April 1904 in Stanley, Perthshire also home of her mother.    No trace between 1874 and 1901

can anyone help with the family between 1874 and 1901??

Do you have Janes death cert? If so, did it give her occupation?

There is a John Gladstone Scott 29 dies in 1878 in Ruthwell might be worth a look as looks like he was a druggist according to the wills and testaments on SP

Thanks again to both Higgsy and Rosie, I very much appreciate the help that you lovely people give on Rootschat.   Yes very sad to lose first of all a husband and then your son in such a short space of time.    Jane never remarried.
