You could try emailing the cemetery as their records should show if there is a headstone
-
would you have a direct email address for allerton cemetery please
-
Don't know about an e-mail address but the phone number is
0151 233 3004 according to Google, which I think may be for the appropriate Council department.

https://liverpool.gov.uk/contact-us/service-area/cemeteries-and-crematoria/
You can contact the cemeteries dept via their online form on that page to enquire if a headstone was erected.
Please bear in mind that now is not a good time to ask as they will be short staffed and have many other, more pressing, duties. I'd wait a good while till we can get back to some semblance of normality and then send an enquiry.
Is this the same man?
Liverpool Echo 02 Jul 1941 page 4 col 7

NEED a section letter - ie Section C ROW 11 GRAVE 477
I go regular and live 2 miles away - there has to be a section letter - try and find it out .

try and enlarge it to see sections
added - this is better - you will see what I mean about lettered sections

The info came from the Allerton Cemetery Burial Registers, 1963-1968, Folio 293, entry No 100333, which are available on Ancestry within the database 'England & Scotland Select Cemetery Registers 1800-2016'.
On the right hand page of the two sided entry the column headed Section says 11 and in the column headed Grave No. says 477 which is what the OP was asking about and what I tried to answer.
If it is a Division you require then on the left hand side there is a column for Division which says General.
My apologies if I should have included that and failed.

Boo - I wasn't having a go at you ?? I was merely pointing out I go there regularly and the info you received wasn't adequate - there has to be a LETTER for the section 11............ GEN 11 or CH 11 or R 11 .....there is no section 11 without a letter - I meant no offence to you whatsoever ...xxx
-
and no offence taken, I was just trying (for once) to be as precise as I could be as I'd already added confusion to the thread.
Looking at the handwritten registers there do seem to be 3 'Divisions'. Church of England (abbreviated in the register as CE), Roman Catholic (abbreviated in the register as RC) and General (not abbreviated). I haven't seen a fourth to match the abbreviation of CH that you mention?
Hopefully this lady (as I thought was possible) is the 'Helen', wife of Joseph Radcliffe, in the death notice I found, and the burial records used her "Sunday name" of Eleanor Marjorie.
Hope you are able to perhaps find out more whenever you are next at the cemetery.

Only info I have for Joseph Radcliffe buried no. 50781 sect 11 grave put based by Ellen radcliffe but by what info you good people are furnishing Eleanor Stevens ( Radcliffe ) is buried with Joe Radcliffe
-
I wonder if CH means CHAPEL - if you look you will see CH Graves are around the chapel area ??

Joseph Radcliffe was buried by a rev.j. Dyson
-
'Er again.
I looked at the burial register entry for Joseph Radcliffe, that too gives the Division as General, Section 11, Grave No 477. So its definitely the same grave.
Interestingly in 1941 when Joseph died, the burial register had extra columns which were not in the included in the edition of 1968 when Eleanor died.
The really helpful one is "If Private Grave , name of grave owner" and for this entry it says Ellen Radcliffe.
As she was the grave owner, it makes sense that she was also buried there.

I noticed the word general others around on register say
Rc.and I think c.e
-
can I just say - during WW2 - my mums sister died - their parents couldn't afford the grave - my mums other sister bought the plot - and although my aunty Dorothy / mum / dad and brother Kenneth are in it - the grave owner Elsie is buried somewhere else - but you have given me food for thought - WHY isn't she in that grave ????
do you think there were MANY graves purchased for other family members during the war as money was tight ???? something to think about
-
There will always be a limit to the number of burials within any one plot, which varies according to size etc , perhaps they just wanted to keep the original one for your aunt's siblings and purchased their own plot reserved just for them and any possible children?
I don't know if Graves/Plot Registers exist for Liverpool Cemeteries, though have used them a lot elsewhere and found them very useful though not always straightforward to explore. Very useful to suss out exactly who was buried and when in a particular plot.
Records were kept of every interment in each plot, depth of burial etc as it was necessary to monitor that carefully to ensure that a previous interment wasn't disturbed when a new interment took place. If they do exist they would be at the archives.

spot on Boo - Dorothy and Kenneth were 6 mnths old and 8 months old - I was told they were laid across the grave - not length ways

I am wondering if some one could help with a look at a grave if they are visiting the allerton cemetery liverpool. it is section No 11 grave no 477 a eleanor marjorie stevens. Is there a headstone on this. also could anyone explain difference .public grave and private grave. many thanks
-
A Public grave is used for more than one person and not all the same family. It is unlikely that there would be a headstone

Have you considered putting your request on Findagrave website

What year did she die?
EDIT - - found it - 1968. Burial register shows it was a private grave. Ring the office at the cemetary with the grave details & they will be able to tell you if it has a headstone.
