Hello everyone. I'm looking for anyone who may know anything about the Gribben/Gribbins of Cornwall. Specifically John and Mary (nee Scoble). Mary's parents were Nicholas and Hannah (nee Williams). They were married in Crantock in 1852, and eventually emigrated to Otago New Zealand. They had 9 children. One of their daughters Edith arrived in NZ pregnant, or was pregnant shortly after her arrival. The father of my great grandfather remains a mystery to this day. Edith was later married to John Warwood who adopted the child, also named John.
If you know of this family or have any information or just want to say hello, it would be much appreciated!
Thanks all
Kate

Have you checked out the Cornwall OPC site?
It has the baptism of a John Gribbin at Crantock on 23 May 1830, son of Edward and Jane. Unfortunately the site does not seem to have Crantock marriages so I cannot cross check.
Nicholas Scoble and Hannah Williams married on 8 May 1824 at Cubert.
A Nicholas Scoble was baptised at St Endor on 25 July 1802, son of Henry and Catherine
A Hannah Williams was baptised at Gwinear on 20 March 1803, daughter of John and Elizabeth. A John Williams was a witness at the wedding.
I'll let you have the pleasure of further research - there's more to be found!
