Title: Stanley Page
Post by: trevorteppler on Friday 22 May 20 19:20 BST (UK)
Looking for information on Stanley Page. Born Sutton Bridge, Lincolnshire in Sept 1921, died apparantly in 1997 in Zimbabwe. Was in the defence force - possibly Royal Naval Marine.

His service record will still be with the MOD - as with all personnel serving after 1920.

See: https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records
You'll need a death certificate, and the fees are £30.

i live in South Africa and my half-sister in the UK. She is trying to get information from the military in the UK.
i would love to know if Stanley had any siblings.

I have a very interesting story regarding Stanley Page and would love to share with any of his family. Maybe they are aware of it.

Who are his parents from his birth certificate?

Presumably this one?
Births September quarter 1921
Stanley Page  mmn Brown   Holbeach 7a 731

There is a possible sibling in 1925, with the same parents' surnames.

Probably Stanley will not show on 1939 as died abroad and not yet 100 years since birth.

Too many Page/Brown marriages to work out parents (though not in Lincolnshire after 1911), or could even be a second marriage for her.

He is in 3 trees on Ancestry - one has a photo of him - worth trying to make contact?

Stanley was my grandmothers partner for many years (approx 1948 until her death in 1984 in Zimbabwe). My grandmother lived in Cape Town where i presumed she met Stanley but could also have been in Durban. In about 1950 my grandmother and Stanley left Cape Town and went to Zimbabwe but this is where the catch is. Stanley was apparantly a deserter and could not travel on his own name. My father who was in an orphanage for most of his childhood left the orphange somewhere between 1948 and 1949 and joined his mother in Cape Town. Stanley was already with my Grandmother. my grandmother was born in 1908 and looks like Stanley in 1921. My father was born in 1931. My father had started working in Cape Town and did not go with Stanley and my grandmother. Stanley then took my fathers birth certificate and travelled under his name and lived as Colin Tipler until my grandmothers death in 1984. After she died he changed his name back to Stanley Page. I only found this out last week when i came across a Zimbabwe govt gazette. I never met my grandmother or Stanley

My father later changed his name to Teppler. It also appears from trees on ancestry that Stanley married Hilary Athone Jones later in 1984 after my grandmothers death. This would probably have been his first marraige at the age of 67. He died apparantly in 1997 and Hilary in 2016. This is from trees and i have no documents except the name change.

I think it is extremely unlikely that any family member will see this post.

This is a possible marriage for Leslie
Marriages September quarter 1961
 Kathleen B Kelly  N.Walsham   4b  1693
 Leslie Page   N.Walsham  4b  1693

This could be Kathleen's death
GRO 1st quarter 2016 in Norfolk
Kathleen Betty Page  birth year 1924

and this could be her probate record
Kathleen Betty Page  probate 05 October 2016
4943114 (probate number)
died 15 February 2016  Grant and will  Newcastle Upon Tyne

so that would give 2 wills to look for named children.

You may not be aware that wills from the probate office are sent digitally and cost £1.50 each.

On one of the trees that has a picture of Stanley, someone has commented that he looks like his brother Leslie.  He is an active user of Ancestry - contact them?

My half-sister in the UK is trying a couple of people but no luck yet.
some people just dont like to answer especially if it is something negative.

I have a DNA match (looking for my dads father) who withdrew his results. would not go for a Y-DNA test even though my half-sister offered to pay.
