Title: Albert Jenkins
Post by: Girl Guide on Monday 25 May 20 20:30 BST (UK)
Not sure if anyone can help but I thought I would ask.

I am trying to find out when Albert JENKINS born 21st September 1908, arrived in the USA and also when he died there.

According to the Bitton Parish magazine (Gloucestershire UK), he retired in 1965 and appears to have died around 1974.  Quote below from part of it.

February 1974

The Rev Wood also reflects in his column on the sudden
death in America of the Rev Albert Jenkins, who was vicar of
Bitton from 1949 to 1965.

I'm guessing that Albert died around 1974 but I don't know where in the USA, that information is not stated.

I am assuming that Albert arrived in the USA between 1965 up to around 1974.  I don't really know where to look to see when he arrived and when he may have died.

Any help would be appreciated.  My grandmother was his housekeeper in the 1950s/60s.

Thanks Sandra, that's great.

I wonder who Winifred Jenkins was?  No relationship stated on the death certificate that I can see.

I gathered from other information that Albert was a bit of a drinker!!

No way of finding out when he arrived in the USA?

Ancestry don't cover passenger lists for that time frame.  The only clue might be he had been in Texas 3 years so 1970 ish  ???  Maybe find my past might show something.

That's absolutely wonderful Sandra, thank you so much.

I wonder when and where they married?  USA or UK.  I'll have a look.

Sorry, I haven't found any marriage in the USA or Texas up to 1973.  Couldn't see anything in the UK either. Sounds like Winifred had quite an interesting career.

There is always the possibility that they didn't actually marry but lived as a married couple.  Alternatively they met somewhere on Winifred's travels after 1965 and married there.  She seems to have been a well travelled lady.

Any family members who may have known about any marriage are probably long dead.

Anyway I am happy with what has been discovered.  Seems like Albert died before his housekeeper who was my grandmother Bessie England, when he was the vicar of Bitton, Glos.

Thanks for finding what you have.  Fleshes out the picture a bit.
