Hello,

I have been trying to find a death notice for Elizabeth Pearce also known as HOLMQUEST, she was born in 1863 Amherst, Victoria and died at Kyneton, 1903.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

The 'correct' (for want of a better term) spelling of this name is HOLMQVIST.  The only death I can see is for an Elizabeth nee BROGAN.  She had children with a Henry/Olaf Hendrik and this article probably refers to that family.

https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/165401812

A family of eight children, whose ages ranged from 15 years to 6 months, were before the St. Kilda
Court yesterday for being neglected.  The mother died a fortnight ago, and the father had deserted. Six of the children were sent to the schools, and two were handed over to the care of friends. The surname of the family was Holmqvist.

Thank you all for the info:

There are no documents on Elizabeth, I am just searching to see what I can find, and am not even sure if she married the Alfred Pearce.

She married Olaf Holmquest 1891, and had 5 children with him and with Alfred she had 3, she also had two children to father unknown.

Ah - it makes sense now!

Were the children with Alfred earlier than her Holmquest children?

Did she die in Kyneton , or Melbourne as the death record found by Debra shows?

Wondering if  "Melb S H" may have been at a hospital.

You would find her place of burial and particulars re her death on the certificate.  The personal information may be scant if she died in hospital as the informant may not have known much about her.  However, place of burial would be recorded.

Not a problem Judith, if people are good enough to help then the favor should be returned and to let them all know them know the query has been resolved...and to thank them in return.
