Have you seen her baptism - no father given?

Father's first name(s) -
Father's last name -
Mother's first name(s) Mary Jane
No mother's maiden name on her birth on the GRO either suggesting she was illegitimate.

You have Thomas as her father but it looks like Agnes was illegitimate

In 1901 both children are living with George & Margaret Newlove as niece & nephew
Robert Henry Wilkinson b Sept qtr 1889 Stockton - mmn was Dawson
Robert Henry Wilkinson b March qtr 1890 Teesdale - mmn was Linton
George Newlove married Margaret Dawson 1877 so Robert was not Agnes's brother
Thomas Wilkinson married either Mary or Margaret Jane Dawson in 1888
-
THomas Fletcher married Margaret Wilkinson in 1894, before Agnes was born
Think we're after the Dawsons. The aunt with who Robert & Agnes are living in 1901 has maiden name Dawson
-
And here they all are in 1891
George Newlove 35
Margaret Newlove 32
Thomas Wilkenson 25
Mary Wilkenson 20
Robert Wilkenson 2
Stephen Dawson 26
James Dawson 18
John Wilmsen 35

BORROW Tom
DAWSON Margaret Jane
DAWSON Mary Jane <<<
LAW Jane Ann
WILKINSON Thomas <<<

Thomas Wilkinson aged 30 died Dec qtr 1892 Stockton
-
so it looks like Mary Jane Dawson married Thomas Wilkinson 1888
They had a son Robet Henry Wilkinson 1889
Thomas Wilkinson died 1892
So Mary Jane was a widow
Agnes was b 1894 and would be illegitimate
Robert Henry continues living with his aunt and uncle Newlove after 1901 but Agnes doesnt

1891 census
George Newlove 35 Blacksmith Yorks
Margaret wife 32 Middlesborough Yorks
Thomas Wilkinson Boarder M 25 Ironworks lab
Mary Wilkinson Boarder M 20 Middlesboro
Robert Wilkinson boarder 2 Durham
Stephen Dawson Brother in law S 26 Hartlepool
James Boarder 18 Leeds Yorks
at Portrack farm Stockton
it seems Margaret Newlove and Mary Wilkinson were sisters (as both had the maiden name Dawson)and Stephen Dawson their brother
and Robert (henry) Wilkinson was the child of Thomas Wilkinson and Mary Jane Dawson
1901 Robert henry Wilkinson and Agnes Potter Smile(or Smith) Wilkinson were living with their Aunt and Uncle -the Newloves
It seems from baptism and Birth reg Agnes was illegitimate -and so half sister to Robert
1901 it looks like their mother Mary Jane had remarried to Thomas Fletcher (who may or may not be Agnes' father)
Thomas Fletcher Head M 43 Coalminer hewer new Durham
Mary Jane wife 31 Middlesborough Yks
James son 19 coal miner Fatfield Durham
Elizabeth daughter 16 Domestic servant New Herrington Durham
Thomas son 11 New Herrington
Marggie 3 Fence Houses Durham
Stephen son 2 Fence Houses
George son 5mths Fence Houses
all at Chilton Moor Durham
the older children's mother's maiden name was White
younger children mother's maiden name was Dawson
in later census there are more children with mother's maiden name Dawson
so it seems Thomas Fletcher (possibly a widower) married Mary Jane Wilkinson (nee Dawson) and they had more children
Robert Henry Wilkinson stayed with his aunt and uncle but Agnes went to live with Thomas Fletcher and (her mother) Mary Jane -and agnes is listed as daughter
I'll try to look up some references
I'm just roughtly piecing this together

Margaret Fletcher b 1897 mmn Dawson
Isabella Fletcher b 1902 mmn Dawson
David & William Fletcher 1904 mmn Dawson. William died 1905 David died 1906
Ernest Fletcher b 1906 mmn Dawson

there is a marriage of Thomas Fletcher (as previously posted) in Mar qtr 1894 to possible Margaret or Mary Wilkinson
Agnes birth was registered Oct/Nov/Dec qtr 1894 and her baptism was 4 Dec
it would be interesting to see the actual date of the marriage and the date of birth of Agnes -

In 1911 (per free index) Agnes is with mother Mary Jane and husband Thomas Fletcher.
As plain Agnes Wilkinson she married a John W. Defty in Dec.qtr.1919 Houghton le Spring R.D.
Her death entry in June qtr.1969 Durham Eastern has her name as Agnes Smiles P. Defty born 15/9/1894.

A few things aren't quite adding up
what I find odd is that Agnes is a Wilkinson, although born in Sept 1894, after the Fletcher/Wilkinson marriage found in Jan-March 1894
Also - the age of the Thomas Wilkinson death found for 1892 doesn't fit the age on the 1891 census.
The 1894 marriage entry is very definitely for a Margaret Wilkinson - Durham online register shows the spouse has alternative name Margaret Willey. So this is not our marriage (and explains Agnes' surname).
This is an interesting marriage!
Q4 1924 Stockton 10a 179
Fletcher Thomas spouse Wilkinson
Wilkinson Mary spouse Fletcher

Very interesting now because info I have received, places Agnes as illegitimate my head is done in now Mabel lol
-
You might it of value to find Agnes Defty in the 1939 register and see who else is in the household. I suspect there is a death for her mother Mary J Fletcher Jan - Mar 1940 in Durham Eastern RD.
The electoral rolls for co. Durham are also of interest. Looking at Newbottle for 1925 Thomas Fletcher, Mary Jane Fletcher and Stephen Todd Fletcher are all recorded at 6 Sunniside North but in 1926 Mary Jane Fletcher and Stephen Todd Fletcher are living at 2 Gertrude Street. This leads me to suggest that given when information for electoral rolls is collected there is a lilkely death for Thomas Fletcher Jan- Mar 1925 Houghton le Spring RD.
This death would not contradict the marriage found by Mabel Bagshawe in the above post.

Don't forget that over 60% of the records from WW1 were destroyed in September 1940, as the result of a fire caused by an incendiary bomb that fell on the War Office Record Store. So if his was amongst those you may never find out anything about his service.
