Hi. My Ancestry subscription ended in mid May. I was wondering if anyone knows of any current special offers, as the only subs I can find are expensive - £69.99 for 6 months UK/Ireland or £99.99 for 6 months worldwide sub :o. I should say I tried the link in a previous post in the Common Room -
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/cs/offers/subscribe?dna=crossAct
but just get the above offer.
Thanks in advance,
Frostyknight

A 12 mth UK & Ireland Premium membership is £119.99 so better value than the 6mth one
-
Thanks CaroleW, it definitely is, but still way too expensive for me. Still the 4-month membership was good while it lasted. I'll keep an eye out for anything in the future.

This one has worked for me for the last two years
£89.99 for 12 months worldwide
-
that's funny, I clicked on the link above posted by Greenvale and got the offer described by frostyknight.
I tried again and got the offer with £89.99.
So it's worth trying/clicking the link again.

Does this link work
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/cs/offers/subscribe?dna=crossAct&o_iid=70089&o_lid=70089&o_sch=Web%20Property
This was taking me to the half price link earlier today when using my desktop, not now on my ipad
-
Need to try to persuade your library to subscribe. Cheshire give access to findmypast and ancestry and you can access them from home now while libraries are shut.
-
Thanks everyone for your replies. Unfortunately I only seem able to get the same offer as I mentioned above. Oh well. :'( :'(

My Ancestry sub expires next week so I am interested in any offers too. They will be charging £179.99 to renew my 12 month worldwide sub.
If I click on the link when not logged in on Ancestry it takes me to the £69.99 for 6 months UK/Ireland or £99.99 for 6 months worldwide sub.
If I click in the link when I am logged in on Ancestry it takes me to the half price offer, BUT when I click on the "get started" button it then takes me to the £69.99 for 6 months UK/Ireland or £99.99 for 6 months worldwide sub.
No mention of any 12 month subs.
???

previously the half price offer only worked if the sub had expired, it used to say it was for 'new subscribers' only.
So in that case, you need to wait until yours has ended.
-
Jool,
You need to cancel your Ancestry membership pronto so that it doesn't auto renew. Then wait for it to expire, then join again using the discount code. Your preferences, submitted trees etc will be preserved.
-
Thanks Lisa and Shaun, I have just cancelled my sub. It will expire on 25th June so I will see what happens then :)
-
Wooohooo! I let my Ancestry sub expire as you advised, I have just renewed using the link on this thread and now have 12 months worldwide sub for £89.99 instead of £179.99.
Thanks Rootschatters :D
-
;D I'm pleased it worked for you.
-
I haven't had an Ancestry paid membership for quite some time. Pleased to say that the link is still working and am delighted to have renewed my 12 month worldwide membership for £89.99, so a huge thank you for sharing.
-
That 12 month link works every time as long as your subscription has completely expired, also make sure that you are logged in. From another group I belong to, people have said you need to be on a laptop rather than a phone.
-
Hi,
I thought people would like to know that this link is still working on 30th October.
I cancelled my renewal two days before would have renewed yesterday, and today I used the link and paid £89.99 for 12 months Worldwide :)

When lockdown first started I did have a subscription to Ancestry. It was obtained at a reasonable cost. (only UK I think)
As a member of my local library, I can now get free access to Ancestry, so plan to take advantage of that. Certainly looks as if lockdown 2 is coming here in uk.
-
Are there any special offers for trial nonth subs
-
Trial Monthly Sub ? You could do a 14 day free trial and then sign up at £10-99 per month
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/cs/offers/freetrial
The best ancestry offer available is :- £59-99 for a UK membership - £89- 99 for worldwide both 12 months.

Thanks Sandra its for a new relative
I dont know what her budget is she probably did the free trial when she did her DNA a few years ago
-
Set up another email account and use a different card, and you get another free trial. And repeat.
-
Deleted - misread last reply
-
Sandra,
Phoned Ancestry this am - informed that offer of £59.99 for UK membership is 6 months, not 12 months. I just lost interest, but thought I should pass on this crucial bit of info.

Have you tried this link? Make sure you are logged in to an account

image clearly shows 12months
-
dawnsh & Sandra,
Thank you dawnsh, apology Sandra.
Another phone call - another person, confirms UK membership @ £59.99 is for 12 months.
Have accepted the offer.
Thank you.
Jolyon.

Delighted you managed to get the offer. :)
This offer has been around for 4/5 years now. It doesn't appear in there usual offers, we wondered if it had slipped thru there radar, so hoping drawing it to there attention doesn't scupper the link.

I think they must know, Sandra, as it is given on so many FH groups. I should think it would be easy for them to check, especially as a lot of people leave only hours before renewing ad do this year after year.
-
As a couple of replies have mentioned, if you have a library card, go onto your county library website and you might find a free link to Ancestry.
I live in Dorset, and the free link has been in place now through the “libraries west” site during both lockdowns (and the brief period between).
The full Ancestry site is available.

It's still best not to draw their attention to it. It only takes one jobsworth to ruin it.
Please don't telephone Ancestry about this, just keep trying the link.

Yep - if it ends up on that money saving website (hotukdeals is it called?) it could well be game over!
