Strange one this - I have tried for years to find Ann (one of 16 children!) I have her marriage certificate, which definitely states she is Ann, father Thomas Thomas, of Is Helen. There was never a Jane in the family as far as I can see. Robert and Ann had both left home by the 1841 census - Robert to become a Methodist preacher in South Wales (later Liverpool) and Ann married a farmer called Griffith Williams from The Lleyn Peninsula. After Griffith Williams died she married a master mariner from Caernarfon and went to live in the town with her two daughters by Griffith Williams.
Can't work this one out. If she was originally Jane why did she then take her mother's name - or is this a mistake by whoever filled out the baptism details in the parish register.

It is possible it was a mistake :-\

Gone back to my Thomas family data base and found there was a JANE Thomas, of Is Helen, died December 1821 aged 10 weeks.

Thanks for your help, Trish

my gg-grandmother was born in the same area (Caeathro) in the 1820s. I've never found a baptism record. I suspect that if a baptism took place, it was at a nonconformist chapel whose records have been lost.
The baptism of Jane in 1817 was at St Mary's church, in Caernarfon (Not the parish church of Llanbeblig) . Father referred to as a gardener.

Hi Huwcyn,
Just got to your Thomas posting. Were the parents of Jane in 1817 Thomas Thomas and Ann?
Fingers crossed

I believe they were, yes. It was on 'Y Ffor' , which I had subscribed to for a month or two. I don't think I'd have posted unless I was 100% sure of what I'd read. I think St Mary's is the church which is actually built into the town walls.
