Title: PR Look Ups - Kennington and Boughton Aluph [Christenings and Burials]
Post by: MattD30 on Thursday 25 June 20 16:36 BST (UK)
Hi

Can I ask if anyone here is able to check for christenings and burials in the parishes of Kennington and Boughton Aluph for the period 1830 to 1890?

Many Thanks

Matt

Hi thanks for that. I think I looked on FindMyPast and couldn't see the people I am looking for, hence why I've turned to the Rootschat community.

I will try and post a couple of the names on here tomorrow and we can see if you have any better luck than me.

Many thanks
Matt

Here are the people I am trying to find christenings for in Boughton Aluph of Kennington.

The following were all the children of James and Mary Richardson. These first five were born in Kennington:

Elizabeth Mary Richardson born 1869

Annie Jane Richardson born 1872

Harry William Richardson born 1874

Harriett Louisa Richardson born 1877

Laura May Richardson born 1879

These two children were born in Boughton Aluph

Lillie Alice Richardson born 1876

Nellie Rosetta Richardson born 1880

Many Thanks

Matt

Hi Matt,
Afraid ,no more luck than you. Have tried all the wrinkles I know.
I would suggest either they were baptised nonconformist or chapel or not at all.
FindMyPast only has Cof E parish records as far as I know.
Good Luck with your Quests. :)
                                                      Rog.

I’ve had no luck with the baptisms either.

I see that all eleven of their children survived till at least 1911.  So they’re probably not buried in Kent.  (If it’s the children’s burials you’re looking for).

On satellite images Boughton Aluph appears to be only two or three houses just north of Ashford; Kennington is in the northern part of Ashford.

Baptisms would most likely be in Ashford itself but on Family Search I could only find them on civil registrations & 1891 & 1901 census returns.

Michael.

Correction to the above - I've looked on an 1896 map which shows two areas named Boughton Aluph, the main area shows All Saint's church next to a large house called Boughton Court

On the same map Kennington has St Mary's church.

The map is on the National Library of Scotland's website; I haven't posted screenshots in case of breaching copyright.

Michael.

Many thanks to those who have answered this look up request. I'll add Ashford to my list and check there. I know when all these people were born however so finding christening dates is just out of interest.

Thanks again
Matt
