Title: Looking for Annie Hollis 1891
Post by: Beavances on Thursday 02 July 20 17:29 BST (UK)
I wonder if anyone can help me find Annie Hollis after 1881?
This is what I have so far:
Born in Spittlegate, Grantham

1847 Ann Hollis Baptism - June 1 1847 at Spittlegate parents Thomas and Ann Hollis
1851 Ann Hollis, aged 3 with parents Thomas and Ann Hollis, Spittlegate
1861 Anne Hollis, aged 13 a house servant for Thomas Smith & family at Brewery Hill, Spittlegate
1871 Annie Holliss aged 22, living with aunt ( Catherine Charlton) at Crown Inn Pickworth, Lincolnshire with illegitimate son
1881 Annie Hollis, aged 32 living with aunt in Pickworth (she has 2 illegitimate children 16 yr old Thomas Rastall Hollis and 2 yr old Emma Rastall Hollis. I am pretty sure the father Thomas Rastall is also living in Pickworth - he is still there in 1891/1901/1911)

I feel she should be easy to find but I can't find a marriage nor a death which seems likely. I do know her daughter died as a child and her son became a teacher in London.

Thanks for the date of Emma's death CaroleW.  I am thinking that if she doesn't marry or die within that parish it will be very uncertain that I have the right Ann/ Annie Hollis as there are a lot of them!

I am amazed that you have found that information ( on two accounts) , I really had thought I had tried every possibility of Ann/Annie & Hollis Holiss etc etc. Thankyou for persevering , I am really pleased to be able to see what happened to her.

The second reason for my surprise is that I now realise that I have 'met' Annie before. Last year I was researching someone from this same village,  ( called Louisa France -  Annie married one of her sons, yes ..the same marriage I was stumped with yesterday ...the same William France) Some big loose ends tying up very neatly for me here!

It seems that Annie's  life was very interwoven with three brothers. She had illegitimate children with one brother no.1, them married  brother no.2 servant and had more children. Some years later  one of those children married the child of another brother no 3.

I would never have got to that conclusion without your help. Thankyou all for the searching you have done.
