Hi, Looking for info on the above couple Married in Cardiff around 1884. Had a daughter called Ellen who was born in Ireland in 1890 and fathers residence was unknown on the birth cert.
He was formerly a farmer in Australia also.
They are not on the Irish Census 1901 or 1911, although the child Ellen is, with Grandparents.
Thanks

Married 1884 - Ellen b 1890 so were other children born before or after Ellen? When & where?
Which grandparents - Power or Driscoll?
Di you have a copy of the 1884 marriage cert? How old were Daniel & Mary? What was Daniel’s occupation?

You need to buy the 1884 marriage cert to get ages and fathers names

Driscoll/Power births - all in Cardiff
John 1885
Catherine 1887
James 1889
I can’t see a birth for James but there are possible deaths for the other two children soon after birth.

I can only see Ellen in 1901 with her grandmother, Bridget Power
1911 http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Waterford/Portlaw/Carrick_Road/909782/
Where do you have Ellen in later years?

Ellen married Michael Fanning in 1912, she had given birth to my grandfather George Driscoll in 1908 in Carrick on suir workhouse father unknown. We are trying to find out more about her parents

It would be best to get the marriage certificate to check his occupation and father on that.
I presume Ellen is your ancestor? Driscoll and Power are not uncommon names. Do you have her in 1911?
In 1901 there are two other grandchildren with Bridget Power. Have you checked those children? John O’Hara, 5 yrs and Bridget O’ Hara 3 yrs b Waterford.

I looked and found these births:
John O’Hara 1896 Dungarvan
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1896/02158/1818274.pdf
Bridget O’Hara 1898 Waterford
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1898/02070/1790773.pdf
Both these children have parents Patrick (a Barber) and Mary Power.
Again not uncommon names though.
I can’t find these parents in 1901 nor them and the children in 1911.
Added - sorry I didn’t see the post from Tracey - I just saw it now.

Here is Ellen’s marriage in 1910

So where is Ellen in 1911?
We can't find Ellen in 1911.
She had a son in 1908 and looks like he was in a Workhouse in 1911.
-
Oh dear. I was hoping that the O’Hara children might be with her and that would solve that little mystery. :-\
