Hi all,
It appears that whatever type of ham I look at Asda for our Click and Collect is shown as unavailable.
Has anybody else noticed that at all today?

Both raw and cooked are available on the Asda listing up here, Trystan :-\

Very little ham , or any cooked meats , in our local Asda store yesterday, and what was available had really short use by dates.

This article from several months ago was projecting that sliced cooked meats would feature in an additional 35 million meals every week, with sliced ham accounting for 90% of the increase:

Just checked on my ASDA branch in Ipswich - nearly all shown as 'out of stock' but there were a few items still available.

Still showing rows of ham in N/C. I don't buy ham because of the nitrite** content and don't shop at Asda at the moment* but here's just a tiny snip to prove it's still available up here. There are quite a few rows of them.
* I did before lockdown but they didn't offer any slots at the beginning. We're lucky that we have all the supermarkets here and I used to use most of them ;D
** I do get Irish Finnebrogue (nitrite free) bacon and they do do ham as well

The thing is, unless you book a slot, and until you select the actual item it will often still show as available.
It's only when you actually try and add it to your basket, into a booked slot, will it be shown as unavailable or sold out. Sometimes it only does it when you go to the actual checkout.

How strange - I wonder if there has been a blip in the supply chain?

Hambushed!

Ham isn’t a problem is the issue for us. We can’t get Lee & Perrins Worcester sauce. My husband is getting desperate, he needs it for his baked beans 😂

I don't eat ham so this isn't a problem for me but I've given up on Asda for deliveries now that I've been managing to get slots with Tesco. I found that there were so many items that were out of stock with Asda and even when I'd added things to my basket the night before delivery I'd find on the day that there was a list of things missing.
Love the hambushed comment! ;D ;D

I am using Asda for home delivery at the moment. Certain things have been out of stock for a while, so getting quite desperate i asked my daughter to see if she could get them on her Tesco click & collect. Success each time.

We've been using Asda during lockdown and they've been very good. Daughter ordered the turkey bacon rashers which had been available throughout but now are out of stock; but they sent ham instead which isn't a problem. I don't know what we would have done without Asda over the past months. We now know what it must be like living in a lighthouse, and having the supply tender arriving!

Look into who the hoarder is responsible in making the shortage Trystan, my assumption is that you must have many ham fisted people in your area??

Hamtastic!
I don't think you can hoard ham.
Generally I buy a small gammon joint and slow cook it with orange juice or sugar (to take the salt out) to make ham. So this week, that's what I've done again.

Snap Trystan- it's the most economical way of using ham... I usually do mine in cider and orange peel, we have it hot then it's sliced for salads or sandwiches.... really good taste.
I usually buy smoked joints but found them too salty even with bringing them to the boil first to get rid of that first cooking liquid then put in a tagine... Lidls ham joints are very nice and reasonably priced.

Hoping your shortage of Ham problem is now resolved. If, by some chance your shortage of Ham continues due to Ham-fisted people that you may have in your area. ?
Hoping the following is helpful?
You may already have started to look at other means of acquiring what you need to resolve your shortage.
The following is information of places where / what which may help you?
Ham, which I believe is in Gloucestershire. Rotherham,Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, also East Ham, West Ham, Hampstead Heath and Okehampton.
Further south you also have Southampton. No doubt there are more places that can be of help to you?
If by any chance you are still unable to resolve your shortage problem, as a very last suggestion I would like to think that the place Sandwich may also be able to help also?

We can’t get Lee & Perrins Worcester sauce.
I couldn't get that from Waitrose for a few weeks, but it was available on the last order.
What is worse, is when after having done and order and it all being accepted, is going into it the night before to be told that a couple of things you ordered are now not in stock. It's often really odd things as well.

Most cooked meats were unavailable for me this week, fortunately because i ran out of home grown lettuce for salad OH had bread rolls with cheese so had some left from last week, well within use by date.
