I don’t have much to go on, so hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
I hope it is OK to post on such an illustrious page. I am helping a friend to find out as much information I can regarding her uncle Terence Hayes DOB 1936. She has shown my some photos of his medals. He served in the Royal Marines, possibly in the late 1950’s. He served in Aden, Southern Arabia & NI, he has the bars in his GSM. He was also awarded the RN LS&GC so served 15 years+ & was awarded a BEM. I think he was discharged 1970s. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated..thanks
I do have date of birth 1936 Winchester Hampshire

If he was discharged in the 1970s his LS&GC would have been awarded after 18 years service, it was reduced to 15 years some time later.

Spikey68,
I think you are right, it is a great help because his personal Royal Marine number is contained in the gazette. Also I did not realise he had a middle name. He was a sergeant when he was awarded RN Long Service & Good Conduct Medal.
Thanks Keith
