Anybody know if they are open?    Nothing on their website to indicate either way.

Thanks

If you are trying to order certificates they have not closed, their service is just subject to delay

Coronavirus

Due to Covid-19, certificate orders will not be completed within the published timescales

In line with public health guidance to help stop the spread of the coronavirus, the General Register Office is currently operating with reduced staffing to comply with social distancing restrictions.
We remain committed to processing orders as fast as we can, however please do not contact us for updates as we will be unable to confirm when your order will be completed.
If your order is not urgent, please help us to support those who need our services the most by coming back at a later date to apply.

They do seem to be erratic as some people are getting them quicker than others, I suppose it depends on where they have their staff working.  Hope you don't have to wait too long  :)

I saw an article on a BBC site just the other day which told of a woman who had a baby 4 months ago and she has not been able register it. The seems to be big delays in the whole system.

I don't know how the system has been operating lately, but here the registration system for births and deaths, (marriages probably different) was merged a few years ago with the library service, and of course libraries have been closed. Thank goodness I retired before that merger!
