After 1927 when he was in court in Rotherham (horse stealing) I could find no trace of this guy.
I have his date of birth as 3 May 1898 in Rotherham.
On the 1939 Lists I have a Clifford Oliver b. 3 May 1899 (not 1898) living in Butts Green Kings Somborne, Romsey, Hampshire - a pipe fitter.
Also living with him is Violet E Oliver b.25 June 1907.
On Clifford 1939 entry it says 17 Feb 1916 W S F. what does that mean?
I can find no marriage of Clifford and Violet.
I have a death of Violet E. Oliver in Pontypridd in S 1939 age 31 - she may well have been the Violet E Trew b. J 1907 Pontypridd.
But no sighting of Clifford after 1939. Thanks.

WSF is the registration code for the place where the adjustment to the register was made -
WSF Wiltshire Cricklade & Wootton Bassett RD
It looks as though his date of birth was changed

I have a death of Violet E. Oliver in Pontypridd in S 1939 age 31
The 1939 register was taken on 29.9.1939 at which time he & Violet were in Hampshire so are you sure the September qtr 1939 death in Pontypridd is the same Violet
she may well have been the Violet E Trew b. J 1907 Pontypridd.
Surname was Trow - not Trew
-
thanks.
hadn't realised the 1939 was done in September 1939 - thought it was earlier like the censuses.
So the Violet who died in Pontypridd isn't the right one.
The Clifford Oliver b.3 May 1898 and Violet Oliver b. 25 June 1907 whether or not they're the right ones seem to have disappeared after 1939 - and no record of their marriage in England/Wales.
-
There is no indication in 1939 against Cliffords name as to whether he is single /married etc
-
This may be the 1939 death
Births September qtr 1909
Violet Evelyn Oliver Pontypridd 11a 694

There is no indication in 1939 against Cliffords name as to whether he is single /married etc
there is what looks like an 'M' by both Clifford Oliver and Violet Olivers names - I assumed this meant they were married ??

I think that you need to look at Cliffords entry again

I wonder if he went to Canada?
There is a travel record on FindMyPast for a Cliford Oliver born 1898 sailing to Quebec, Canada on 29th April 1929, ship was Alaunia. Occupation unclear a something maker?
Address is equally difficult to make out - it looks like 5 Nottingham Road, South Croydon.

I agree 5 Nottingham Rd, South Croydon - occ looks like Timber Dealer
ADDED Douglas William Oliver is at that address in 1915 - he was a Hardwood merchant on earlier census

One Clifford Oliver sailed from U K to Quebec on 29 April 1929 on The Alaunia.
I am searching for Clifford Oliver born Rotherham 2 or 3 May 1898 but no sighting in the UK after 1927 - wonder if 'my' Clifford Oliver is the one who went to Canada.
Any help much appreciated - thanks.
-
If you look at your other thread on Clifford Oliver you will see that the one who went to Canada in 1929 has been discussed (eliminated ?).
-
Was there an occupation given on the passenger list?
There is one coming back from Quebec to London on 28 Sep 1931 who was a salesman age 33.
Ship Aurania.

That 'Clifford' would appear to be Douglas Clifford Oliver born Epsom reg district in 1898 -mmn Tressider - son of Douglas William Oliver and Hilda Alice Tressider who married in Croydon in 1896
