Title: Exchange Teacher
Post by: Dannemois on Wednesday 22 July 20 17:46 BST (UK): In 1948 Gwladys Cowles of Bargoed, Glamorgan travelled to America on a teacher exchange programme and taught for 1 year at San Angello High School, Texas. She exchanged places with Mary Jane Gentry. Can someone please help find articles in American (1948) newspapers regarding Miss Cowles.

With regards to the clipping from the Amarillo Daily News, Dec 13, 1948, p3, reading the last line in the end paragraph there appears to be more after 'finding some' maybe on another page?

Also in the fourth paragraph it says Miss Cowles has been the guest of Miss Gladys Davies, 515 Northeast Fifth? Gladys Davies sounds 'Welsh' and I wondered how I can find more about her; was she a friend etc.

Finally I am able to answer the above. Yes !! I found the connection between cousins Gwladys Cowles and Dorothy Mulligan

Gwladys's parents: Albert Cowles married Anna Pritchard at Abergavenny Dec 1895. Anna was a sister to Lily May Pritchard. Lily May was an aunt to Gwladys Cowles

Now all I need do is find when Lily May travelled to the US, name of ship etc
