Looking for anyone who knew James Smythe. He lived with a lady called Edith, who may have been his wife/girlfriend. Don't know if he had any children apart from his children to wife Sarah. He lived at 115 Carmen street and died in 1973

His death registration suggests he was born on 1.1.1898 but I can't find a birth to fit that.
Is this his marriage to Sarah?

Sarah and James appear to have had seven children born between 1918 and 1934. Do you know when he lived with Edith?

Is he on an electoral register with Edith or on the 1939 register with her?

I think it is meant to be Manchester as the Poplar one didn't go up as far as 115.

I think this is James with his family in 1901, mother appears to be widowed. Living at 3, Spencer Street, Manchester, Lancashire
James is listed with a birth year of 1897.

Yes thy him. He married Sarah , and they had. few children. He then disappeared. On his death certificate, it says he lived with Edith may Smythe. I assume another wife, or daughter, but I can't find marriage for them. They lived 115 Carmen street

It may well be that he never married Edith because his first wife was still alive and he never divorced her.
There are two deaths in Lancs. that could be Sarah, 1989 born 28.2.1899 and 1994 born 2.11.1898.

Sarah died 1994. Edith is on 1939 census as Edith Smythe living with husband Frederick Osbourne!

What birth year does Edith have as I can't see her on the 1939. Living at?

She's living in Derbyshire, with Frederick Osbourne, her husband

There is one closed record which could be a child of theirs, there is a birth in 1933 in Derby which could be likely.

Wondering if she had any children to James Smythe. Can't find. both for mother miles and baby Smythe. Possibly she met James later in life

Edith could well have met James much later and possibly too late for children.
You could consider getting Edith's death certificate to see who is mentioned on it.
