Title: How to find date of death
Post by: SophieTopDog on Saturday 25 July 20 23:02 BST (UK)
I am looking to find the dates that two of my aunts died.
Both died in Wigan
Edith Tickle b 19/5/1901 died Qtr 3 1976 39 2181
Elizabeth Tickle b 18/3/1912 died Qtr 1 1979 39 2927
I know that with these details, I can obtain the death certificates, but at £11 each, that is a little expensive at the moment.
Are there any online databases that show the exact date of death?
Thanks

Have a look on the Government Wills website as it shows date of death on there

The burial in case this is your Elizabeth
Wigan Cemetery Lower Ince
Elizabeth Tickle 65 years 10 Baldwin Street, Scholes
buried 29-1-1979 Grave H 1054 Religion R C

also in same grave
William Fergus Tickle 71 years Baldwin Street
buried 19-11-1947
Elizabeth Tickle 75 years 10 Baldwin Street
buried 9-9-1976

I wonder if the 1976 death should read Edith

The GRO offers PDF copies for £7.  I know that is still not cheap  ;D

The pdf deaths stop at 1957 and start again at 1984 so I'm afraid it would be £11 for the cert.

I don't know why the GRO have that gap, maybe they haven't done the necessary to enable pdfs to be ordered for those dates.

Correction:  Pdfs only go up to 1957 after that it is a certificate.

Sorry I had wrongly looked at the date of birth instead of the death  :).  There is a gap as there was a scheme to digitise the whole lot which stopped.  There are posts on rootschat about it.
