Title: James George O'Daniel 1829-1897
Post by: jjayod on Friday 31 July 20 01:46 BST (UK)
James George O'Daniel was born in 1829 to James O'Daniel and Elizabeth Hunt. He married Mary Anne Jane McDonald Britten 8/9/1858 and one of his jobs was a clockmaker with William Hanson with whom he lived according to the 1851 census. I found, on the internet, Hanson's symbol with the words "Britten gives George Hanson 1791" as per attachment.
I trying to find out what that means as James married a Britten in 1858.

You've posted in Common Room so it's difficult to know any locations for your query. Perhaps you could go back and give a bit more detail so that it will be easier for us to help.

Looks like a red herring.
Mary's name was Britton
That's how she appears on her Baptism & in 1841.
Her father was a painter born Yorkshire & Mary Lambeth.
Can't see her after 1861 & assume this is when they emigrated.
