Hi,
I have just recieved this death certificate through the post but can't make out what the occupation and cause of death are.
Any help is greatly appreciated :)

Pensioner and Natural Decay Certified.
Cathy :)

yup, can see pensioner now, Thank you....but what does it say above...all i can see is 'a 32 ???? coal.
-
Is there anything written at the side of the certificate. I think the 32 relates to Cold being deleted and replaced by Coal

The Registration acts state that corrections of errors discovered, at the time of entry, before completion of the certificate are numbered and initialled in, normally, the right hand margin of the certificate, they have to be numbered, obviously to prevent someone coming along later and altering an entry.
This is the 32nd correction.

I think his occupation (after correction) is probably Coal Metre – someone who measures coal.

thank you very much for your help.

I think it could be Coal Breaker

From a Dictionary of Occupational Terms.
Coal meter man; checks, on a weighbridge, weight of coal leaving coal merchant's yard or colliery for gas company's or other industrial works for which coal has been ordered in bulk; ensures weight and quality of coal are as ordered; fills in certificate and posts to customer.

In addition to the description given above, coal meters were very commonly employed at the London docks and at the wharfs along the Thames.
