Hello there, I'm trying to find a Catherine McCabe who would have lived in Brampton in 1914, when her daughter Caroline was born. Her address is listed as 46 Gelt Road, Brampton. I can't find her on the Census, nor the electoral roll. Can anyone offer ideas of where I can look?
I feel like having the exact address is a big clue but I can't make it work!

Welcome to rootschat
There is another birth in Brampton reg district in December qtr 1915 for an Andrew McCabe mothers maiden surname McCabe. Could they be related.
-
As far as we know, she died a McCabe, and may not have been born in Brampton. She only had 4 girls - Winifred, Jessie, Jean and Caroline. On Caroline's birth certificate, Catherine is listed as living on Gelt Road, Brampton.

Could this be related to the family?

Could she be the mother of Catherine McCabe who gave birth to Caroline McCabe in 1914?

Andrew McCabe b 14.12.1915 died March qtr 1979 Carlisle

A tree on Ancestry shows his mother as Sarah
EDIT
Tree says mother died 1930 in a mental institution and was b 1863. 1911 has Sarah McCabe in Brampton in a mental institution aged 48 so she would have been 52 when Andrew was born so too old. Have emailed the tree owner asking if they have Andrew’s birth cert showing his exact place of birth.
Could be that Jessie was Sarah’s mother and Catherine’s grandmother??
EDIT - see reply below - no connection. Sarah’s mother was Mary
-
1871 shows Sarah’s mother as Mary. Sarah was in the mental institution in 1891/1901/1911 so cannot be Andrew’s mother

Think Sarah McCabe died 1948 Cumberland aged 71. Single on the 1939 entry

Reply 1 - marriage to James Watson.
No children appear to have been born to that marriage but a Catherine Watson aged 28 died Dec qtr 1919 Whitehaven. That would give a birthyear of approx 1881 & the Catherine McCabe b Scotland was born 1881
I would recommend you buy a copy of the 1914 marriage cert and check her fathers name
