I am looking for any info regarding a Joseph Orridge, baptised 1801 St.Peters, Leeds. Father John Orridge. Other than possible siblings, I can't find anything.
I have been searching for the parents of Joseph Orridge, born 1829 Loughborough and a couple of people seem to think it is this Joseph from Leeds. Why they believe this i dont know. His marriage certificate also states his father as Joseph.
Any help please ?

What was the occupation for his father on the marriage please?

Have you found Joseph jnr in 1841. He is in Leics mistranscribed as Orange and somebody has notified his surname as Oridge. Aged 14 and not with family
HO107/588/11/4/2
There are 2 other Joseph Orridge births who were old enough to have fathered a child in 1829 so I don't know why the one in Leeds has been singled out

Hi, thanks for response.
Joseph 1829, father labourer.
Joseph was living in Scalford 1841 and lived and married there, until his death in 1899. He is not to be confused with another Joseph christened in Loughborough All Saints. I am baffled as to the Leeds connection. I have been searching for years and his past pre 1841 is a mystery.

The Joseph Orridge who married Esther Foister 1849 lived in Scalford and died there 1899 on all census he gives his birth place as Loughborough circa 1829.
Is this the one you need parents?

Possible parent
Muster Rolls and Payroll
Cannore 24 Janury 1815

Joseph Orridge served 20 years
Is this the pensioner who died January 1831 age 46 of Loughborough

Might be worth getting a copy of this will--Probate 5th April (From Index to Wills and Admons)
Samuel Orringe died 4 March 1858 of Sheepshead Leicestershire Probate to Joseph Orringe of Scalford brickmaker and Edwin Fern of Stoke on Trent Earthenware Dealer the nephew.
Nephew is singular but it may apply to both it would give you family relationships.

FreeReg goes with Joseph Orrange and Sarah Duffin.
Anyway, witnesses are given.
Also has the 27 June 1828 baptism of Joseph
Abode Loughborough. They haven't given us father's occupation.

Images should be available elsewhere.

Thanks for response. Sorry but not my Joseph. Very likely a family connection though.

Sorry but not my Joseph.
What's wrong with him? You want a Joseph born Loughborough circa 1829, father Joseph
And we have Joseph bap 27 June 1828, Loughborough, father Joseph.
Orange instead of Orridge, but there seem to be quite a few ways of spelling the name.

I might have to rethink this one since I have received some information today regarding a Samuel Orringe, will and probate, naming Joseph Orridge from Scalford. I can't remember why I dismissed Joseph and Sarah but if it has been staring me in the face all this time I will kick myself 😤
Thank you for your help.

Hi, Thank you for the information regarding Samuel Orringe. It has confirmed Joseph's parentage i had discarded for some reason I can't remember. Would you mind my asking where you found d the details of the will and probate ? I cat seem to find it. I have looked on Ancestry and the Gov site without any luck.

Ancestry.
Multiple spellings of the name
Use Samuel Orridge, death 1858 Leicester.
Then using the filter by category on the left hand side choose Court, land wills and Financial.
Then choose wills. It is the index only but tells you his death date and executors of his will.
I don't know the address to apply for the actual will, but I'm sure somebody on here can tell you that.
Nathanial Orring & Sarah
Samuel bap 2 August 1778 Sheepshed
Joseph bap 9 March 1783 ditto
Ruth bap 4 July 1785
Samuel being the one who left the will, his nephew Joseph the brickmaker son of his brother Joseph married Sarah and possibly the one who died 1831 who had been a soldier.
Sister Ruth married William Fearn 1810 in Derbyshire, her son the other nephew Edwin Fern mentioned as executor to Samuel.
Nathaniel Orring married Sarah Whittle 31 December 1765 Sheepshed, so there are more children
somewhere to be found.
-
Three more children of Nathanial and Sarah all at Sheepshed
Updated 4 more children
William Oringe bap 22 March 1767
Nath'l Oringe bap 10 Feb 1769
Sarah Orring bap 14 November 1772
Edward Orringe bap 24 Feb 1775
There is also an apprentice record for a Nath'l Orange to Robert Bakewell a Baker 6 May 1755 in Belton, in case that is relevant, might be the father of the children.
Seems this was a family given to serving in the Army
Nathanial Orange discharged 31 May 1807 born Leicester 1768 age 39
Coldstream Regiment of Foot.
