My great-grandparents were registered on the 1939 Directory as living at 'Bernardette', Rossmore Road, Parkstone, Poole, Dorset. They would have had 5 children.
Is there anyway I can confirm that address from other sources.?
I ask because they were registered as living at 34 Malvern Road, Moordown, Bournemouth in July of 1928, and didn't. The resident at that address from 1926-1929 was named John Head.
-
Was it just the name of the house?
-
What occupation did great grandfather have?
Perhaps he appears in a trade directory with an address.
Could they have been lodging with John Head at his address :-\

They would have had 5 children.
If any of them were born in the years you are suspicious about you could get birth certificate(s) and see what address is on there.

Of the 7 people shown on the 1939 register, one of the children has since died, and therefore the name appears. Looking on FreeBMD for that name, the birth was registered in the Poole Registration District in 1933.
Milliepede - occupation was Electrician.

@CaroleW
Yes, the house was named Bernardette, there doesn't appear to have been a number and I can't find it on historic maps of the road.
-
@milliepede
I think he was an electrician, something that was mentioned a few years ago, in passing.
The house they said they lived at is a small two bedroom, and John Head was married by 1928, when they registered as living there.

@Suzard
The address is on my grandfather's birth certificate, first in the column with his birth date, and secondly in the column with his father's name. Which isn't John Head.
According to Kelly's Directory, John Head lived at 34 Malvern Road from 1926-1929.
-
Have you located 34 Malvern Road, Moordown on the 1939 register
-
@BumbleB,
Yes, by 1933 they lived in Rossmore Road, Parkstone, Poole.
In 1930 they were in Hazelbury Bryan, Dorset.
I find it very strange that they gave the Malvern Road address in 1928 when evidence shows they didn't live there. I was hoping to find some other address for them at the time, or discover some other source confirming if they were there.

According to Kelly's Directory, John Head lived at 34 Malvern Road from 1926-1929.
You really need to look at the electoral register as Kelly's may just list the Owner of the property
-
@Rosie99,
Yes, it became 14 Redbreast Road in 1929 when the area was rearranged and a new road built, the resident at the time was a Mr. and Mrs. Vincent.
-
@Rosie99,
The electoral register just says Dorset. My great grandfather registered in 1926, 1927, 1928 and 1931. There was no address given in the registry records.
-
Rossmore Road is quite a long road, 1939 Register lists 9 pages of entries, and most of them have "house names" rather than numbers. It is possible that "house names" have subsequently been replaced by numbers.
-
I'm sure you've seen this map of the area - 1938, published 1944.

Just to give some background to this post. It is not a duplication of this request but I found it helped by filling in some details . ;D
