Title: Simpsons of Langley Marish
Post by: AsH62 on Sunday 30 August 20 14:15 BST (UK)
Hi. The family that I am researching have just taken me to Langley Marish in Eton, Bucks. This is a whole new part of the country for me and I am having some problems working my way round it. I am looking for the family of Thomas and Mary Simpson and the only reason I know that they lived here is from a burial record because their grave is with family in Acton and their sons lived on the Strand in London. Mary died in 1823 and Thomas died in 1837.
This is before the 1841 census so I am a bit out of my depth and am hoping that someone with local knowledge can advise me where to look for records in the county.
Any help would be great, I am floundering a bit!
Thanks
Alison

Here are two sites that might help in Bucks.

You can search Catalogue and Order a will copy:
https://www.buckinghamshire.gov.uk/culture-and-tourism/buckinghamshire-archives/

And:
http://www.bucksrecsoc.org.uk/publications.html
Many of these volumes are available online. Many are for much earlier periods, but Volume 22, Posse Comitatus might be useful.

Oh my goodness, the Posse Comitatus is an amazing document! I have never come across anything like this before and I am now starting to read it with my morning coffee. Thank you so much, i will see if there is a will as well and order it if there is but even if not this has given me a whole new understanding of the area, thank you

Contact BucksFHS.  They may have baptisms, marriages, and more burials, for your Simpsons in their databases.  You can visit them via Facebook.
