Hello
William Laws WISEMAN was born 08/08/1838 (baptised 09/09/1838) in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, the son of Anthony and Jemima WISEMAN. It is not known whether or not he was an only child.
His life until 04/01/1854, after release from prison, is sufficiently documented, but nothing can be verified after that date. Can anyone help please?
Thank you,
BAC3

Anthony Wiseman married Jemima Lawes 3/10/1837

Also on 1841
James Wiseman 50
Elizabeth Wiseman 50
Anthony Wiseman 30
Mary Wiseman 20
William Wiseman 3
I guess Anthony & Jemima were with their respective families that night. Jemima and Mary ended up listed under her father's name not her married surname

William was only 9 years old was he actually sent to Australia?

I thought he was age 11 when he was transported for 7 years (and it wasnt his first offence )
Do you have him in 1851 census ??

Good Morning Everyone,
Thank you for all your posts......I am extremely grateful.
A few answers to your questions. He was indeed sentenced to 7 years transportation but this was eventually commuted and he was released early on licence 04/01/1854. He appears in the 1851 England Census for Parkhurst Prison enumerated as W.W. There were various ages quoted but he was actually born on 08/08/1838 ex-C of E transcripts as noted above, making him 10 and a bit when he was sentenced to transportation on 30/11/1848.
However, his life after 04/01/1854 still remains a mystery!!
