Title: Mary SMITH marriage licence
Post by: Mckha489 on Wednesday 09 September 20 10:02 BST (UK)
The second to bottom line of this reverse of a marriage licence says Mary Smith ..... de Weston?

What is the small word between SMITH & de

(the marriage was at Pattingham, Staffordshire)

thank you

I think it is Weston, and the little word after Smith looks like 'par' with a contraction mark. In full this would be parochiae - 'of the parish'.
