Title: Robert,Mary, John and Mahala Sampson SOUTH TAWTON
Post by: historyman on Friday 11 September 20 10:31 BST (UK)
Any help re this my post to the ST History Forum would be appreciatedGood Morning
Grateful for info and views on the following .The Land Tax records for Allisdon show the occupier in the early 1800's was Robert Sampson and by 1813 was Mary Sampson she was still the occupant in 1817.Yet as advised previously Mahala Stanbury Sampson widow of John Sampson was the occupant when farm was auctioned Seven Stars 24OCT1815.Mary was still occupier in 1817 ,Mahala remarried a William Battishill 30Oct 1816.This would tend to negate the view that Mahala was known as Mary.

don't think I have a Charity, but I do have a Frances Vincent of St Erth marrying in Phillack in 1778.
