I am quite new to this, and made a huge mistake their were 2 Herbert Wesley's born the same month in 1907, my grandfather Harold died in 1966, however I picked up the wrong line of a Herbert that died in 1988. My Herbert's line has hit a brick wall, so many Wesley's born in the Derbyshire area at the same time. I know he had a sister (name unknown), and two brothers, William and Edward. Can anyone help?

It should be possible to find your Harold on the census after his birth, hopefully with parents and siblings.
He should also appear on the 1939 register which gives date of birth.
Who did he marry please? The marriage should name his father and occupation.
Lots to go on and I'm sure you will soon be on the right track.

Have you his marriage certificate? How old does he say he is on there. Is it consistent with age at death? Name and occupation of father? Witnesses? And of course name of Bride and her father.
Have you found him in 1939?

Oops there are 2 names in there - Herbert and Harold - is it Herbert you want or was he known as Harold?

Hi yes it was a typo, been at this hours🧐🧐, his name was Herbert, and I have found his marriage details to Eugenie etc, there is no information on the marriage details of his mothers maiden name, I cannot find any census details to establish their names. It is his father and mother I am trying to trace, thanks for the replies.
I found one census record for Herbert and Eugenie, that had their date of birth on it, and showed his as 1907?

You mean he is showing as born 1907 on the 1939 register.
Do you know who registered his death to get the information incorrect, possibly?

Do you have the marriage certificate as that should give information on his father

If Rosie is on the right track with mothers name Gould the parents are Joseph & Maria and they have lots of children including an Edward and a William.
However those are all in Leicestershire, does that count as "Derbyshire way" :-\

Yes he is show on the 1939 records as dob 08/07/1907.
The other Herbert mentioned on the replies as mothers maiden name Flint, is the line I had previously followed but he died in 1988, my grandad died in 1966, I was only a small child and have had this confirmed by my dad. So I have as I said hit a brick wall in trying to trace Herbert's parents, my dad does not recall their names🤔.

I think we have the right family with Joseph & Maria nee Gould then as there is a military pension record which gives Herberts birth as 08/07/1910 so just the year is wrong. Not 1907 but 1910.

By 1911 Joseph & Maria had had 12 children but only 6 still living.
Marriage for them 1892.

On your tree on Ancestry you have his father as Herbert Alfred Wesley - is this your incorrect family?

Hi all, I think I will look at at Rosie's info. Get the other sibling names and see if my dad recalls them, if all else fails I will as recommended order a marriage certificate.
I was trying to search for a link so assumed his fathers name would begin with a H so put it on my family tree to see if I could get a hint, you folks have given me so much more info.

Where was your father living in 1939, was he with other family. I assume it is his sibling that is living with their parents
