William Durward married Jane E Smith, 1885, Arbuthnott.
The death of an Alice Jane Lewis in 1977, NSW, lists her parents as William & Jane.

This has cast a bit of doubt on whether it is the correct Alice Jane.
Who is Geoffrey Lewis buried in the same plot?
-
hi,.....
yes! Alice Jane's parents were certainly "William & Jane",
And she married in Canada ,...widowed in 1925, Canada....the guy she married was Richard Ryder lewis ,
I have no clue who Geoffrey Lewis .....unless he was her son , (although i had'nt come across any children for Alice & Richard ). ???

Richard was born in Montgomeryshire, Wales, 1862. He was 57 when they married. Cannot find any Welsh relatives named Geoffrey but he had other siblings who could have moved to Oz

LEWIS, Mstr G******* J**** age 6
Editing to strike through: ages don’t match, so a different LEWIS mother and son

21896/1976 LEWIS Geoffrey DIED PADDINGTON 062

I see no death notices for either of them, on Ryerson Index.
Jamjar
The 062 is the recorded age at death and the index summary that Jamjar has typed up is the usual way NSW BDMs index is released when there's no info on the deceased's parents provided by the informant.
So 1976 minus 62 gives that Geoffrey as born in 1913-1915. So he would not be the child aged 6 on the Feb 1949 passenger list. That child, born 1942-1944 may well be living, and if in Australia, then the expectation for personal privacy prevails to protect the living individual.https://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/SearchNRetrieve/Gallery151/dist/JGalleryViewer.aspx?B=9245040&S=31&N=43&R=0#/SearchNRetrieve/NAAMedia/ShowImage.aspx?B=9245040&T=P&S=31

Thank you for promptly modifying your post to remove the given names for the young passenger.

Thanks for picking that up JM ;)
Her age also does not fit if she was widowed in 1925, so this appears to a be different LEWIS mother and son.
-
Yes, I was surprised when you posted those naa.gov.au arrival details - not to worry, the LEWIS surname continues to be popular in rural and regional NSW, but our OP's person of interest.... her maiden name is rare in NSW.

I am on my E reader, so I cannot do live links, but there is a thread from 2008 about Alice Jane. Her mum died in Pennant Hills NSW.

Do you have Jane Smith Durward's actual date of death ? AS stated you would be able to ask SKS to look at the newspaper for her death or funeral notice
Jenn
Following from that 2008 suggestion re a lookup via Ryerson (so pre-dates the digitisation of the SMH for Trove ... )
Sydney Morning Herald 15 May 1947. Funeral Notice for Jane Smith DURWARD, dearly beloved mother of Mary, Alice and Bella. Aged 86 years.
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/18026340
ADD, I have not found a probate notice.

The only way to be sure is to get a transcription of the Alice Jane death certificate.

On Alice Jane's husband's death notice, there is no mention of a son.

Have checked Richard's brothers for possible children
One was a GP in Wales & never married.
One moved to London & died 1932. His probate makes no mention of a Geoffrey.
Correction.... The one who died in 1932 was wrong age, born circa 1851
