Looking for information about Elizabeth and Ann Oakes
Elizabeth married John Winley (Windley) 1716 in Roxwell Essex ( I know that for sure)
Ann married (not 100% sure) Philip Windley between 1720 and 1723 ?, probably also in Roxwell
John and Philip were brothers (both born Roxwell, 1689 and 1694, parents John and Elizabeth)
Is it possible that Elizabeth and Ann are sisters ? If yes, who were their parents ?
Both born 1690-1700 ?
So far I have not been able to find proof of that. I haven't even found the marriage of Ann and Phillip.
Anyone please?

Anne Oakes, daughter of Elinor Oakes of Ingatestone widow was a beneficiary in the will of a Samuel Crowch / Crouch of Frierning who died in 1706. There is a burial for a Robert Oakes in Ingatestone in 1702.

ColC thank you. But Ingatestone is not near Roxwell is it ?
So not sure if these two ladies are the ones I'm looking for.

Anne Oakes was a beneficiary in a will when she was just 8 years old ???
Why is that ? Does that happen very often ? That a child of that age is a beneficiary ?

That puts paid to the idea that the Ann who married Phillip Winley was this Ann Oakes.
Register actually says "August ye 31st was buried the body of Ann, da'r of Elinnor, widow of Robert Oaks, joyner"
How do we know that the Ann Phillip married was an Ann Oak(e)s?

Hi all,
pretty sure now that Philip Win(d)ley didn't marry Ann(e) Oakes.
If Ann Oakes died in 1707 it must be another Ann that married Philip in 1723-ish. First child Thomas was born in 1724.
When I had a subscription on Ancestry I noticed that in many family trees Philips wife was stated as being Ann Oakes. That's what you get when you just copy the information and don't do any research yourself.
Don't have a subscription any more (too expensive for me).
So far no one has been able to find the marriage of Philip and Ann ......
The search continues.
