I was wondering if anyone could lead me to how to find German church records. My family was from Heidenheim, and the records I did find were on Ancestry. But I thought maybe I could find more elsewhere, as many tips say to look specifically at the church records. Thanks!

You could try the Anglo-German Family History Society?
www.agfhs.org

Which Heidenheim?
https://s.meyersgaz.org/search?search=Heidenheim
what religion were they

Thanks, I'll check that website out!
They were from Heidenheim, Württemberg.
And the birth records were Lutheran. But struggling to figure out if Heidenheim is just the district, or also the city. I'm still learning, so it's a little on the confusing side for me.

OK.
ARCHION has the lutheran church records
you´ll need to register to view these. 50 downloads for 19 Euros a month
https://www.archion.de/en/browse/?no_cache=1&path=121390-696932&cHash=e58aa9f48f4275affc041d70cf80b7d3
you can´t search by name, you have to scroll through all the books manually

I have not been impressed by the quality of the downloads from archion.de. Moreover, the limit of 50 is very restrictive. I usually use the Snipping tool (or Snip & Sketch as it now appears to be called) to capture a highly magnified image of the entries of specific interest. You can then save the snippets as jpg files.
