Title: Bakery in Roadwater?
Post by: bugbear on Friday 25 September 20 11:58 BST (UK)
I have been tracing one "James Percy Bryant" who was a baker in roadwater (as was his father and son).

I am trying to work out which building (listed as "The Old Bakery" on the council tax list) is the right one from google streetview.

And failing.

Can anyone with local knowledge point me the right way please?

This one was obviously a shop, but was it the bakery?

This map shows "The Old Bakery" , appears to be next to the "Old Bridge Post Office".

(If you can't open that link, it's part of a building application for Oatway Cottage

I'm not local - hopefully someone who knows the area will be along soon.  :)

There's also a photo of part of the Bakery's stone wall on flickr - not that it helps with location!

Your first link is to a downloaded file on YOUR computer  :), but your second link worked a treat  :D.

Thank you.

Following the helpful planning document, I think this is "it".

This postcard (who knew eBay was useful for historical research  ;D) shows the Post Office; the bay window and distinctive roof apex feature are still clear on current day street view.

Is this the house next door, for sale?

That's the post office - look at image 10.
