Was he an ex POW?
There is a piece titled "Funeral of German Ex POW in Bury."
He was present at the funeral for a friend who had died, an ex POW who had been employed at North Farm Barnham.
23rd July 1948
He was also briefly mentioned in as having had a slight accident by being knelt on by a bull!
That was in 1952 at Home Farm, Euston.

Hi Cathy,Thanks for reply sorry for late response, was that the only mention of Edwin Odebrecht in the Free Press?Would you know how I could look up his military records then his P.O.W records? thanks Neil.

Edwin Emil R Odebrecht (dob 19/4/1926 according to death reg) doesn't pop up with that spelling on Ancestry German records.
Searching the surname only, no dob, in Germany brings up a number of Odebrecht names.
You may have to get the marriage cert for Father's name/occupation to get a better clue where to look.
Added in case you don't have the ref
Edwin E R Odebrecht
Reg Date:
Reg Qtr: Apr-May-Jun
Reg District: Bury St. Edmunds
County: Suffolk
Spouse: Jean M Baker
Vol No: 4b
Pg No: 2069

There are several children of the marriage who are reasonably easy to trace to the present day, perhaps they could help.

Was he a POW (Prisoner Of War) or was he in Internment?
There's a difference!
Internment records are, I believe, with The National Archives.
