I wouldn't wish the suffering of covid on anyone. I'm particularly worried about how many could have been infected considering the number of people they interact with and the number of people they in turn interact with. Potential superspreader event.

Just because he is a vile human being does not mean that I have to lower myself to his standards. I will admit though I am more concerned about people he may have infected eg protection detail, Whitehouse cleaners, their families etc.

I wouldn't normally wish anyone to be ill and certainly wouldn't wish anyone dead but can you imagine what he will be like if he comes through this unscathed? He will be saying 'it's just like a mild case of flu, it wasn't as bad as they say'. That really is not what the US needs right now.

As has been said, does Donald Trump know what the truth is?
Is this to get a “ sympathy vote”,but he has stood pretty close to his opponent Joe Beiden ( Sorry,can’t remember the spelling) who is older and so also vulnerable ,although not obese as Trump is said to be.
My nearish neighbour is fully convinced China have done this deliberately ,it is germ warfare, no use isolating because China are sending it to us anyway as they want to rule the world.
Some will now be saying ,” things” which it would be very unkind to repeat
::) ::) ::), but Trump ‘s arrogance might be his absolute downfall.
He wouldn’t wear a mask etc etc .
He might just well be doing a favour albeit unwittingly ,ie no one is immune.
So obey the advice, guidelines and rules.
We will see,much as I detest him,as Pharma said I would not wish suffering
on another human being - but he has been very “ cavalier“ in his attitude --,now chickens have come home to roost perhaps.

Trump hasn't worn a mask and has also failed to distance.
It doesn't matter if someone looks and tells you that they are 100% well, they can still be potential carriers of Covid.

Why should anyone offer any sympathy to the Trumps?
They have shown no regard for anyone!
200,000 Americans have died because he did not instigate tougher action to contain the virus.
The world would be a much better and safer place without the ethos that Trump puts out there in his world and actions.
So I for one am keeping fingers crossed that soon he will be the Late President.

Because they are human beings and sympathy is not given to get sympathy in return. When someone routinely disregards others it an be more difficult to be empathetic towards them but it doesn't mean you shouldn't do it.

Answering the origial question: as far as I read the Constitution, if the President can't fulfill his functions, the V-P takes over, if the V-P is also incapacitated the the Hose Speaker takes over. After that I think it is the Cabinet - -Sec of State, etc.
Erato might know more.

Boris got a lot of sympathy when he contracted Covid. There is an election looming. Am I being cynical for linking those two facts?
