Just been quoted £179.99 to renew an ancestry.co.uk worldwide sub. According to their website, I can buy a 6 month auto-renew one for £69.99 (stated to be £14 off). Even without the £14 off it's still cheaper. Waiting for their reply. What have others done?
-
This was working recently
You need to let your current sub (if any) to expire

I will be interested in the outcome, my renewal is due but not worldwide

If you don't want worldwide, UK premium is £59-99 for 12 months - just let your current one expire or cancel
We have been using this offer on the link above since at least 2016 - love to see everyone getting a bargain.

They are going to charge me £119 I think
Automatically renewes
Louisa Maud

You will need to cancel your subscription so that it does not auto renew. If it is due to run out soon and you do it now it will still run to the expiry date.
Once it has expired just use that link to renew.
-
Thank you Sandra, I have cancelled as from 3 weeks hence

Hi Sandra clicking on the link still only gave me the option of 6 months :-\
I also got my nearest and dearest to try just to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong we also tried the F5 button on my Mac still nothing :(
So I decided to copy and paste the link to a document and when I clicked on the link from there
hey presto it's giving me the option of 12 months £59.99 UK premium or £89.99 Worldwide - Thank you :)
Now all I need to decide is which one :)
-
Yes, as long as I remember to get back in
I have just ordered a copy of wills online, never done that before so that will be something else interesting

Yes it is - I decided and have gone with the Worldwide Sub - thanks again :)
-
You do sometimes have to try clicking the link several times to get the half-price annual sub offer to show. I just tried out of curiosity and got the 6 month one, went back a minute later, clicked the link again and up came the one-year deal. Same thing happened last time I tried to renew, but I kept at it.
Perseverance pays off!
-
I hope it works for me, have just cancelled my renewal due on 24th, so I am keeping my fingers crossed
Louisa Maud

Thanks Rosie99 and Sandra for the tip.
I cancelled my worldwide subscription a couple of days before renewal (due 21 October). I've just tried the link and I've got 12 months Worldwide for £89.99.

Pleased to hear that it worked for you Malcolm :)

Its great to see all these people getting a fantastic offer. Long may it last :)

When I click the link it says something about AncestryDNA. Is that what the offer is or is is just a regular Ancestry subscription, as I'd like to make use of it but don't want the dna thing.
-
Not happening for me, am I to late?
Only coming up front page wiht options up to 6 months
Louisa Maud
-
It looks to be still available - this link

If your not getting the above link, try copy and paste the link to a document and click on the link from there
It should then give the option of 12 months £59.99 UK premium or £89.99 Worldwide -

Phew, thank you Sandra, got there in the end, went for world wide, even then is less than renewal at £119, what will I spent the extra cash on I ask myself ?
Thank you

Where did you find this on the Ancestry site. I`m with them and have cancelled my subscription.
I have used the discount before but am wondering why I can`t see it.
My account is still there as a registered guest.
Do I have to make a new account perhaps.

As far as I can tell, the link does not work UNLESS you are signed into an expired account (which shows you as a registered guest)
As long as your sub has lapsed (not just set to NOT auto renew, but actually past the end date of a sub), log in to your Ancestry account, look at your details and it shows you are a registered guest.
Then click on the link posted in here
You will get the discount page, choose whether you want uk or world wide and click to proceed.
When I did this a couple of weeks ago, it brought up a page with my details already completed (name, address, card details etc) I had to put in a new card as the one that was previously used has expired.
click , click and pay :-)

Yes, that's what's happened with me, I 've just renewed with the discount and as you say all my previous details are there.
How would this work for someone who has never previously subscribed to Ancestry.

Anyone can create a registered guest account :-)

The purpose of the offer is for 'new subscribers' i.e. "someone who has never previously subscribed to Ancestry" ;)
"*Offer available for new subscribers only and not for renewal of current subscriptions. After the initial 12 months, your membership will automatically renew at our standard prices for your chosen membership."
Do remember to unsubscribe from the automatic renewal.
