Title: Jane Giles ran a Guest House on the IOW
Post by: tempogold on Saturday 03 October 20 14:05 BST (UK)
Hello
Hoping someone may be able to Help. The  family story is that  Mrs Jane Elizabeth Giles nee Baker was said to have run a guest house on the Iow after 1944 and before 1960. Born in 1889 she dies 21/6/1963 at Alver Bank Rd West London. She was widowed in 1940. We know she was living at 51 Stanmore Rd Stevenage in 1942 and at 7 Julian Rd Stevenage in 1944--both addresses taken from her will. Another address lived at was 71 Shirley Way Croydon sometime during the war with her daughter  . Sorry no clues on the IOW property.
Grateful for any information
many Thanks .

Any proof apart from a family story?   Without an address you can't check electoral registers.

You could try ringing the records office to see if there are any records of guest house owners for that period.
