Title: Eliza Andrews -which one is 'mine'?
Post by: tigtig on Monday 05 October 20 10:49 BST (UK)
I have the marriage certificate for Eliza Andrews to Joseph Barratt for 9th Aug 1885, at the Parish church of Black Heath, registration District Stourbridge. They both give Langley as their address, she is age 20, spinster, no occupation, father John Andrews, witnessed by Joseph Yeomans? and Sarah Jane Hackett.
Looking on the GRO site for births around 1865+/- 2 years, there are over 70 Eliza Andrews registered as born around the country, of which at least 5 are born in Worcs/Birmingham area. Using FreeBMD, I have checked for marriages between a John Andrews and the MMNs given for the Birmingham area births and at least three have the groom as John - Emma Rose, Harriet Green and Hannah Tustin. There may well be others I have missed. Please can anyone help me find the correct family?
Many thanks

That 1891 census is the one posted on several Ancestry trees for them.

Not yet found censuses for her in 1881, 1871 in their trees.

Thank you for replying. Eliza's father John's occupation on her marriage certificate is difficult to read but looks something like stone or stoke br....?
The only census information I have for 1891 is an address of 73 Park Lane, Oldbury. I don't have any subscriptions to sites at the moment to look at the census records in full - I'm looking at research done by family from 30 years ago and the researcher is no longer with us.
Thanks

To work back from John and Emma you really need to get the marriage certificate to confirm their father's names, occupations and ages.

No sighting of John in 1861.
His Bapt:

Excellent - thanks again. I'm still trying to get it all sorted in my head - so many of the same name! So, just to summarise - Eliza is the daughter of John Andrews and Emma Rose (father William), John's parents are Edward Andrews born c1817 and Eliza (Joseph) and Edward's parents are another Edward born c1779 and Fanney - have I got that right?
Thanks for bearing with me.

Yup.
I think this is the marriage:
St. Christopher's Frankley.
Nov. 9th. 1801
Edward Andrews = Frances Coley.
My Coley family came from here.
Could be related.
2 more for Edward & Fanny:
1802 John
1803 William
There may be others.
