Title: Help requested with Royal Artillery tracer card
Post by: smd751202 on Tuesday 13 October 20 19:17 BST (UK)
Good evening

I'd be really grateful for assistance deciphering my grandfather's RA tracer card. It's now very difficult to get his service records directly because his oldest son who holds his death certificate, my uncle, is lost to dementia.

I have been able to make out some information about X list and 91st Anti-Tank Regiment (my mother remembers him mentioning the Argyll and Sutherlands) but cannot work out the other A/T regiment (73? 13? Y3?), nor the letters after his X list spells (a field hospital or similar).

Any assistance would be very gratefully received - thank you.

73 Anti-tank Regiment RA. Jan 45 onwards in NW Europe.  (13 AT can be ignored, they were in the Middle East)

The first two X Lists (probably hospital stays) have 21 Army Group so he was in NW Europe.  The third has BAOR, war is over he is in the newly formed British Army of the Rhine.  X 8 is waiting for posting, (home in his case)

Looks as if he went to France in Jun 1944 with 91 (A&SH) AT Regt RA, transferred to 73 AT in Jan 45 and remained with them until home in Oct 45.
