Wondering if anyone could help re. details on a marriage record.
Looking for details regarding the groom from a marriage recorded as January 1918 in Billericay ,Essex.
The parties were Philip Anthony Brennan and Dorothea Gladys Everitt. She was married previously I think in 1914 to a ? Farrell.Details were from an online tree so unsure if its the same person.
Am interested in the grooms details to confirm or reject him as the same Philip Anthony Brennan in my family tree.
"My" Philip Anthony Brennan was born 8th August 1895 in Dublin to James Brennan (policeman) and Catherine(Kate )Donovan and died 2nd December 1963 128 Woolstone Road Forest Hill London S E 23 and buried in Hither Green Cemetery on 6th December 1963.

To look up a marriage you have to know which church it took place in. If it was a civil marriage it can't be looked up.
If you look at the freebmd entry - her surname is Farrell on the record
March qtr 1918
Philip A Brennan/Dorothy G Farrell
These are all the areas covered by the Billericay RD
https://www.ukbmd.org.uk/reg/districts/billericay.html

You will already have her birthdate from the 1939 register but it matches the June qtr 1896 birth reg for Dorothea Gladys Everitt in Billericay. You should also have Philip's from the same entry
There is a marriage Dec qtr 1915 for a Dorothy Everitt to Michael J Farrell in Billericay

Ok looked at 1939 register on Ancestry (basic sub.) and see Philip and Dorothea Brennan living at 38 St. Aidans Road ,Camberwell.
Birth date (8th August 1895) is the same as "my" Philip Brennan.
Facts fit so far but ?
Will have to look further to confirm that this is the person from my tree.Know he was baptised R.C although not too sure if he married in a church or not.
Again apologies but have no idea whats available online regarding UK records. Are Parish records available online ?

Hi
"Everitt"
You may also have noticed that Philip & Dorothea Gladys were also with her sister Evelyn Marjorie and husband.

Didn't actually see that.
Everything fits including his occupation but really would like to be certain to be honest.
Know his parents ,grandparents names plus have birth entry in Irish civil register. Also his death and burial /grave number details from his memory card.
As far as I know he had a son which also corresponds with detail in an online tree but have seen enough assumptions in online trees to have a modicum of scepticism.

Dorothea + Evelyn + 2 sisters + Parents all together on 1911.
-
Son born 1918? Why not order the birth certificate?
-
I can't understand what more proof you need?
Philip's birthdate on 1939 register is what you already knew
Dorothea married as Farrell but son's 1918 birth shows mmn Everitt
1915 marriage of Farrell & Everitt
That was during WW1 so was her husband killed?
If you still have any unanswered questions you would have to buy the 1918 marriage cert
-
Dorothea Gladys had a possible daughter 1916?

Perhaps its me being cautious but wanted to make sure the Philip Brennan marrying in Essex in 1918 to Dorothea Everitt is the same person as "my"Philip Brennan born 08 08 1895 in Dublin .
Yes I know the birth dates are the same but perhaps that may be coincidence.
What I know for certain about him is date of birth (8th August 1895 in Dublin to James Brennan RIC policeman and Kate Donovan),residence at death ( 128 Woolstone Road Forest Hill London S E 23) date of death (2nd December 1963) and burial place (Hither Green Cemetery).
The point of my post was if I could find his marriage cert details online which would confirm (fathers name/occupation) that they were one and the same person.
Maybe am too used to Irish civil records which are searchable online for free.
Thanks.

All I have to go on that my Philip Brennan married the above named lady is an online tree which the person who compiled it said she just took the details from a hint on Ancestry. She was unsure as to the whether we had the same person as her interest was in the bride ie Dorothea Everitt.

English marriages are searchable online via freebmd but online access to the actual marriage certs varies greatly from county to county.

Thanks for that.Really would need to order and pay for cert so.
Don't think I need confirmation enough to go that far as its a family line that's mostly finished.

I have used FREEBMD to search ( it is free to search ) except to use 1939 to attempt to verify.
Use the marriage / death registration details to order marriage certificate and pay relevant cost..
