Title: Diary > Tuesday 15th December
Post by: Roobarb on Tuesday 15 December 20 22:18 GMT (UK)
Early one tonight. That's because I hurt my foot earlier today, couldn't get comfy on the sofa so had a soak in the bath and got in bed before ten.

The day started well, lovely and sunny. Enjoyed my walk although I'd foolishly set off across the field thinking it might have dried out a bit but it was worse than ever, I was squelching across it. Did the usual route through the woods, I was wrapped up warmly, in fact too much, it wasn't particularly cold and I was enjoying the sunshine.

After lunch I painted a very narrow strip of white around the aperture of one of the frames I'd painted, left it to dry while I did some tidying up. I was expecting my Christmas cards to arrive from the printers today, they were supposed to be here by yesterday, I'd paid extra for that. They didn't come. I'm really annoyed, it gives me so little time to write and post them. They'll be hearing from me, I've always had good service from them so it's disappointing. I know these are difficult times but they shouldn't promise something they can't fulfill.

The varnish I'd ordered that I was going to use varnish a couple of small paintings and the frames I'd painted,  had had a misleading delivery date, the new date wasn't until the 29th so I decided to frame and hang the pictures and when the varnish arrives I could take them out of the frames and varnish as originally planned. It was only after I'd hung them that I got another message to say that the varnish would be delivered on Thursday.

I hung the paintings on the lower part of the staircase, after adjusting positions I was pleased with the look of them. I stepped down backwards, thinking  was on the first step, unfortunately I was on the second step and my foot came down hard. It seemed okay for hours after, I went about normal things. It was early evening when it started to ache. Have taken a couple of paracetamol, am now feeling sorry for myself. Hope it doesn't stop me going for a walk tomorrow.

Hope others had a less frustrating day.

Oh no Roobarb- that can be so painful when you think somethings there and it’s not.... hope it’s feeling better in the morning after a soak and relax.... very frustrating... can’t tell you the number of times I’ve done similar things.... usually when we’re on holiday!
Hope your Christmas cards turn up tomorrow, as you say not much time for writing and posting...

Having had a dreadful nights sleep I Couldn’t believe it when I pulled up the blinds this morning as saw A CLEAR BLUE SKY ... hurray.....my iPad had pinged at 5.20 am😱 it was my darling son who was very kindly sending photos of the work on the new pool house and decking he’d done... of course it was afternoon for him so had wanted to take them before dark... I’ll have to remember to silence the drated thing... I quickly striped the bed and got it in the machine..
After breakfast just had time to tidy up and get ready to go out with my three friends for a walk as our daughter FaceTimed us for a chat.... trying to work out how we’ll get presents to one another... we thought we might meet at NT garden but I think that’s all going to depend on what dear old Boris has to say tomorrow now... only had a quick chat before going out for a walk....
it was such a beautiful day and actually quite mild... I took all my Christmas cards with me to pop through doors on the way round... we walked up and out of the village on the road towards next small town... the road was closed to traffic as pot holes were being repaired ... they seem to be here all the time and you can’t notice any difference.... I’ve seen better surfaces on roads when we lived in Africa and some of those were truly dreadful! They really need to resurface the whole thing... like they used to in the old days... the only advantage of the road being closed was no vans using village as a short cut... we were just ambling along up the middle of the road... when we turned to come back, as we didn’t really want to walk along the main road... although it’s classed as a B road it’s busy, one of the girls said to me ‘ are you not going to put your cards through the doors.... I’d completely forgotten... I did some on the way back and went out a little later to finish off...
After lunch decided that as I’d finished all my cards I’d put all my Christmas stuff away ready for the next what ever I’ll be doing in my room... sewing probably...
OH busy trying to finish his jigsaw but getting frustrated as pieces all look the same in final bit!
Got dinner sorted chicken in lemon and herbs with rice and broccoli stems, sugar snap peas...
Had a shower and washed my hair..
Watched some tv... daft film OH had recorded...
Came to bed early as tired but still on here posting...
Hope I sleep better than last night... and foxes don’t wake me up with their barking... they sit on either the back lawn where I can hear them or the front lawn where OH can hear them!...it was my turn last night .... so that woke me up too...

Hope others have been able to enjoy sunshine today

Lovely for you to get out for a walk in the sunshine Caroline and eventually getting your cards posted! Hope you manage to meet up with our daughter and family, so many people are feeling unsure about things now. Hope you get a better night's sleep tonight.
