I’m looking at James Wilson, born May 1738 in Middleton, Westmorland.
He married Mary Briscoe, born 1767.
I can only find one child, Frances (Fanny) Born 1799 in Barbon, Westmorland.
I’m looking for any further children, but also wondering if this was a second marriage for James Wilson?
Any help welcomed,
Cheers, Romilly.

Many thanks indeed Westland, - much appreciated.
Yes, Fanny’s birth didn’t seem to fit, and so a second marriage makes sense.
I’m going to see if I can follow William Wilson, born 1803.

Just to explain, Westland, -
I've been searching (for more years than I can count...:-) for a Birth or Baptism for my Grandfather William James Wilson, (1860 - 1937).
He says on his Marriage Cert in 1893 that his Father was, 'William Wilson, (Deceased) Occupation: Mason'.
Having got nowhere with my paper trail, - I took a DNA test, two years ago now; to help, my sister, daughter, late Mother and 2 Paternal 1st Cousins and 2 Maternal 1st Cousins also tested. Thanks to this, I can tell if new DNA Matches are on my Maternal or Paternal sides.
A new paternal DNA match from New Zealand has this Wilson family on her Tree. Because she's a DNA Match, I know that we must have some family link, - I'm just trying to work out where...
Unfortunately this Tree is rather sketchy, and unsourced, and so I'm trying to check out the Wilson part. I hope that makes sense?
Thanks for the help,
Romilly.

right I see now , where you are going with this , my records start from 1687 , just shout out if you need me to look up , any more , regards westlass

Thanks Westland.
I think my best bet is to try to find Marriages for all of those Wilson children.
This is going to keep me busy! But as we’ve just moved into Tier 3 here, hopefully it will help to take my mind off the present day...

Frances (Fanny) Wilson, Born 1799 Barbon, Westmorland, married John Carradice, Born Kendal 1784.
I’ve found a Christening for him on the 21st November 1784 at Kendal, and it shows Parents Sulomon and Bella Carradice.
I’m unable to find Sulomon and Bella Carradice anywhere else...
Can anyone on here see them please?
Cheers, Romilly.

I had a quick look at this as I have Wilson's in Middleton around that time b ut can't find a connection . John Carradice appears to have been living in a house very near the river Lune,I don't know if it flooded then but it would flood 2 or 3 times a year now. He is shown as a basket maker in 1871. In 1881 he is living at Preston Richard with his daughter Ann Beatie. I have his father as David and mother as Alice Ellwood from Caton .married at Middleton in 1801 and John's baptism at Middleton 1803. In 1871 Ann is unmarried and a Grandson John Wilson Carradice age 6 living with Grandfather John.

Many thanks for looking Green Dragon.
The reason that I’m looking is because I noticed that many of my DNA matches have Gilbert Wilson in their Trees on Ancestry:
Birth
abt 1710•Middleton in Longsdale, Westmoreland, England
Death
17 Feb 1780•Sedbergh, Yorkshire, England
I was trying to work out how I fit in.
