Do you have the right dates of birth for John and James Hogg ?
-
There is a marriage in 1902 in Larkhall between a James Brownlie Hogg and a Kate Finlayson. Possible second marriage to an Agnes McApline McGhee in Larkhall in 1939.
There is also a death for a 91 yr old James Hogg in Larkhall in 1970.
You should be able to confirm via SP certs/images.

HI again got my census date wrong it should be 1901 Ithought it 1911 so john is 1877 and james is1879 SP which I use does not give me them but will try using it with the information you have given
-
The details on James sound very possible. The marriages and death in 1970 are all within the period you can view the images online.
For John, haven't seen a whisper from that 1901 census entry where he is at home. The name is too common, with too many entries, to guess really.

There is an army record for a William Hogg born about 1891 gives his address as Laurel Bank Burnhead Larkhall his occupation is bread baker ..Is this address familiar ?
Rosie
-
That is a good possibility, Rosie. That William shows as married to a Jessie Waddell. The marriage date is given as 5 June 1914 in Larkhall. Can't see it easily on SP :-\
First son Robert Brown Hogg born a couple of months after in Larkhall. There are two registrations showing on SP in Larkhall 1914 for this birth. Different ref no's.

Claycrop, can I ask a question? Which of the sons of Robert Brown Hogg and wife Janet was father to this Robert Brown Hogg b. 1914 in Larkhall https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Hogg_(footballer,_born_1914)
Just curious. This must be why there two birth registrations for that name in 1914 in Larkhall that I mentioned earlier. One the son of William and wife Jessie, and the other?
