Title: 41-18 Vernon Blvd, Long Island, New York City, US
Post by: Rosinish on Thursday 24 December 20 23:49 GMT (UK)
Hi folks,

Can anyone please tell me if there's a way of finding who lived at;

41-18 Vernon Blvd, Long Island, New York City, US in 1959

A few years either side may do?

I have Lachlan MacKinnon travelling there in 1959 from London, England & I know he had a sister Christina who was married to Norman Griffin Miller who may have been at that address?

That would be Long Island City, a neighborhood in the Borough of Queens, NY, located on the east side of the East River, across from Manhattan.

I haven't found a city directory that covers that time period yet.

Hi Erato,

Yes, indeed, on the East River which I found out through good old Mr G when I came across the address.

It would just be nice to confirm his connection to the address at the time.

I have info. which suggests he was married at some point which I'm trying to establish & wondered if the journey was after the death of a/his 'wife'?

Lachlin died in 1965 in Rochford, Essex, England although I've not found anything regarding a 'wife' yet.

This appears to be your Lachlan MacKinnon.  The names mentioned and the date (1959) match, but this not 41-18 Vernon Blvd, Long Island, New York City.

Stanfordville is a town in Dutchess County, New York, which is north of New York City.

At the bottom of the article it does say Lachlan MacKinnon has been a guest here (Stanfordville) and in New York City. I assume that place in New York City is the address you mentioned?

Thanks RJ...both nice additions which fill gaps!

I knew Christina lived to be over 100 so this is good but although I knew the name of Margaret's husband (have their marriage details), I was unaware of when/where she died as I'm only going through the siblings now.

From the link, it appears sister Margaret Nicholson was at Vernon Blvd which ties in nicely.

I also know their sister Effie/Euphemia married Floyd B Miller 1969 California but I haven't been able to verify whether he was a brother of Norman G as I haven't yet found their marriage although my research is ongoing for now?

Thanks Barry, I do have images from my earlier research as the 1st thing I did when I found the address was to ask Mr Go ogle  ;)

Thanks all for the help so far as it's much appreciated.

RJ, the info. re Effie's husband being William has me bamboozled!  :-\

Unfortunately I hadn't recorded a link to my info. on Effie which I found online, however, in one of your links it states..."Mrs Floyd Miller and daughter Anita'...

I'll check things out in the next few days as to where my info. was found & it's actual content as my notes are not too clear on 'Floyd B Miller & 1969?'  ::)

I appreciate your input/links very much as I'd only started digging into this lot very recently.

William's middle name was "Floyd".

Perhaps he went by Floyd or that's what friends of family called him?

Oh, I see!  ;)

Thanks, that's a good help RJ as I've only recently been looking at the siblings & not really looked into them all yet as I thought I'd begin with the 2 I had most info. on to begin with.
