Can anyone help me identify this building in a photo from the 1950s? It was thought by the daughter of the man in the picture to be the National Gallery in Edinburgh, but I'm sure it isn't, for several reasons.
Thanks

I was looking for images of classical buildings in Edinburgh, just in case it was in the city but not the National Gallery, and one of the results included a picture of the Propylaea in Munich (a city gate). What do you think?
About half way down this page: https://ewh.org.uk/what-is-greek-revival/

There is certainly a good big space in front of a building like that, on Prince’s St .
Viktoria.

I think Arthur definitely has it, The Propylaea in Munich

I was just about to get stuck into a search for this building when I see you have cracked it already Arthur, well done! :)

Thank you so much for identifying the building, despite my misdirection!

It was a bit of a fluke - I mean, when you're looking for images of classical buildings in Edinburgh, it's totally normal to be shown a thumbnail of one in Munich, right? ::)

Serendipitous.
