Title: James Lawlor
Post by: fb22 on Wednesday 30 December 20 17:19 GMT (UK)
Hi
I'm searching for military records (possibly India) for a James Lawlor born in Ireland probably Dublin in 1875. I have a 1911 census record for him aged 36 married to Alicia and having 5 children in Dublin.
Many thanks and Happy New Year to all.
Frank

Looking at the 1911 census the 5 children are Lillie 16, Paddie 15, John 12, Julia 3 and William 2 months. A gap of 9 years between Joh 12 and Julia age 3. So is Alicia his second wife?
Not that it helps with a military record, just an observation.

Hi
Are the older children Alicia's or James'?

Do you have proof that James served in the army? If so when? Before or after 1911.

Hi
Alicia Kavanagh married Patrick Lawlor in 1891.
Alicia Lawlor (nee Kavanagh) married James Lawlor in 1912.
I have copies of both entries in the registers.
The two younger children on the 1911 census may be James Lawlor's.
I haven't found a record of the family on the 1901 Irish census.
The only evidence of James being in the British Army is anecdotal and an old photo of a man dressed in an Indian type uniform.
I also tried to find if Patrick was in the army but couldn't find any records.
Many thanks for the replies.

Hi
If James served in the army it would probably have been before 1911.
Many thanks.

Yes that's the one, Alicia's age in the 1911 census might be suspect.
