I believe, that my Grandfather, Reginald Reid, may have been in the Home Guard. I don't have a lot to go on other than that he lived in Aigburth and I think the local Battalion(s) may have been either the 87th or 89th Lancashire.
I was wondering if anyone had access to any records, in order for me to confirm my belief, please.

Yes, at the begining of the War, He is living in Aigburth Liverpool, and has what is considered to be a Reserve Occupation. But it's not to do with the Home Guard, though He might have joined later.
ADD: Further details of d.o.b., address etc., are on the 1939 Register, to provide, if You apply for the Home Guard Service Record.

Thank you both for your interest and information. The Gov.UK site "could" provide the info I need, but the 30 quid admin fee may be a bit of a gamble if they aren't successful in finding it. as is suggested I'll have to have a think about that one :-\
